100% IT DOES!!! Some people think if you simple just lower your calorie intake to have a daily deficit of what you burn per day you will lose weight. All Calories ARE NOT created equal. If you eat 1500 calories of high carbohydrate or high sugar values you are creating a couple different problems...the main one - insulin resistance. Here is the basics: Food is absorbed into the bloodstream in the form of sugars such as glucose and other basic substances. The increase in sugar in the bloodstream signals the pancreas (an organ located behind the stomach) to increase the secretion of a hormone called insulin. This hormone attaches to cells, removing sugar from the bloodstream so that it can be used for energy. When you continually eat HIGH SUGAR OR HIGH CARBOHYDRATE FOODS your body it creates this syndrome of resistance. In insulin resistance, the body's cells have a diminished ability to respond to the action of the insulin hormone. To compensate for the insulin resistance, the pancreas secretes more insulin. A major factor in the development of insulin resistance syndrome is obesity -- especially abdominal obesity or belly fat. Obesity promotes insulin resistance and negatively impacts insulin responsiveness in a person. Weight loss can improve the body's ability to recognize and use insulin appropriately. This is precisely why more and more North Americans are obese - LOW FAT HIGH CARB DIETS....You never want to STOP eating carbs but learn about good carbs (complex or fibrous carbs) - you can get all your carbs in the form of vegetables if you wanted but no need to go extreme. Hope this helps :) it has worked wonders for me =))

I have heard that eating late just before bed leads to weight gain.
