TGIF, and trying to really mean it! As I've said many times before, weekends are more of a challenge for me & my healthy eating & living roadway building, so its with mixed emotions that I (usually) write TGIF. I truly love the routine of my weekdays, where as weekends bring the unknown and/or the over-socializing that I've realized can be stressful for me at times. But, I've got a new attitude (thanks for the reinforcements of it, Angel!) and am looking at weekends now as a challenge and an opportunity to put to use the mindful eating & living strategies that i'm working so hard on. In this case, practice does not make perfect but instead builds new healthier habits for its progress, not perfection that I'm striving for. So, let the weekend begin and TGIF!

I'm off to early tabata spin class this morning & am having lunch with a few friends for a birthday this afternoon. This will be one of those weekends with several unknowns, but again instead of looking at it with anxiety, I'll look at the opportunity to make it into the weekend of my choosing. DH got home last night after being away all week. He was supposed to go skiing with friends for the weekend, but he canceled that after his brother's relapse. He & his brother may though still go skiing for the day on Saturday. That's the unknown part as DH is quite different from me & a more spur of the moment type. It doesn't throw him like it does me when plans change or aren't organized in advance. Regardless, I'm looking froward to watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics tonight (I love watching all the events!), mass tomo & if DH does not go skiing, hopefully date night too! What I do know about the weekend is that it'll be a low-key one regardless, and I'll be sure to include time for me in it.

And, I also know that to kick off TGIF right, I'll begin in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And for this one day, and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, log, post & express my way. I'm so very grateful for each of delightful you (you wouldn't have noticed but I'm going through the alphabet to come up with words to describe how wonderful you all are -- so far -- Awesome, Beautiful, Cute & now Delightful!), my family & IRL friends, a low key weekend & the opportunity to build healthy eating & living weekend habits, the Olympics, & having the health and wealth to live this life I love! xoxox

You likely wrote this before you went to work out as you aren't 'live' with me but you may be before I get off. You will do well this week-end, keep telling yourself that. And remember - TW - Then What? Keep asking yourself that, every time you want to put something in your mouth that you think you don't need. It's hard to go with the flow Ruth but this week-end you will have lots of practice. Hugs and prayers for a happy, successful, EWYL, binge free week-end.

I am a planner too. I love to plan and make lists. I love to know where I am going and when and plan for it and mark it on my calendar and look forward to it...lol I can be spontaneous at times too but I tend to feel more comfortable when I can prepare. Enjoy your spin class and I know you will have a wonderful weekend. I have no plans...lol

Ruth I can relate to your feeling of being out of control on the weekends and not having a predictable routine, but you are very determined and focused and I'm sure you will make good choices and take care of you. Enjoy the the Olympic Opening Ceremony too.

I love you Ru! You are so honest. I am so glad you reminded of the Olympics Opening ceremony tonight too. YAY! I love the ice skating and the gymnastic events and some of the skiing. I hope you DH gets to ski with his brother. Just go with the flo. Life is good. Hugs!
