Ruhu's Journal, 11 December 2013

A little off & sluggish this morning, but well worth it after a fabulous night watching the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center & a delicious dinner. It was a great night, a little longer than I needed, but a nice Holiday event, so no complaints here. I know I'll have to be on the guard today because of this "off" feeling - almost like a slight case of vertigo (which I've had in the past, but much, much worse). I wonder if the van ride to/from NYC did it as i began to feel it upon our return. The return driver drove quite fast & the ride was very bumpy, plus DH & I were in the back row. I though it was just a mild case of car sickness, but since its still here this morning?… & I'm sure the glass and a half of wine didn't help… but tasted so good!

Luckily, I have an easy day today… good planning on my part :), including a manicure & call with my health coach this afternoon. Of course, this time of year, there's shopping, groceries, and holiday prep to fill in the gaps… and a workout this morning and nap. I have become quite an accomplished cat napper! We were home by 11:30 last night, but thats still 1 1/2 hours after my normal bedtime. And, I have some "off"days ahead, meaning I don't have to be "on" at a social event for at least a week.

But, before I begin my day, I'll pray --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And, throughout this one day, and each one meal, moment, bite & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way. I'm so grateful once again to have each of you to share with every day, my family & IRL friends, a picture perfect snow covered view of the woods our home backs up to out my kitchen window, sunshine, a fun night in NYC after having fun playing paddle tennis with the snow falling on us yesterday, and having the health & wealth to live this life I love, even though it comes with a few sluggish days after. xoxox

Glad you had a great time and that you will be on guard today for the tiredness. Sorry you have a bit of vertigo, hope it doesn't hold you back from your activities today. And cat napping - meow - my favorite :)

Happy you got to go to see the Nutcracker Suite! I know you must have enjoyed that and dinner with wine. Awesome evening. I think I might have barfed if someone drove too fast after eating and drinking, plus the fact it was late and after your bedtime. Get some rest today and I bet you will be back on track ... with a lovely new manicure.

Glad you had fun. Sometimes if you have fluid in your ear it can cause that dizzy feeling. If it should continue or you have pain you might want to check for an ear infection. Sorry, it's the mom in me that makes me say that. Hope you had a great day.

Do you ever look in the mirror and do that 'all that jazz' thing ... prep yourself with 'it's Showtime!' the way the choreographer would. Of course, he prepped his day with liquor, pills and cigarettes but I often feel that and say that too ... after I get dressed, do my makeup, adjust my hair and finish the accessories - before I walk out of the bathroom I stare at myself in the mirror and do my positive unconditional affirmations and then 'it's Showtime' to begin the day. So enjoy your break of not having to be 'on' until the next social event. All the worlds a stage and I think you're doing wonderfully in center court.

Thanks, wonderful friends! The vertigo or motion sickness ended late morning, so all good for the rest of the day. Bella, I'm going to try that for the next event -- DH's Holiday Party next Tues. And, you reminded me of all that goes into just getting out the door -- no wonder its so exhausting! xoxox
