I'm not a huge Dr. Oz fan, but still get sucked in some days when I happen to watch. Yesterday's episode was on losing weight with hypnosis. 7 techniques were shown as recommended by hypnotist, Paul McKenna. One caught my eye as I continue to build my healthy eating & living roadway by eating mindfully. It suggested eating a meal blindfolded. I know it sounds strange... & could get quite messy (at least in my case as I can make a mess with both eyes open:) ), but the outcome was that the women tested ate until they were just full instead of based on their preconceived notion of an appropriate amount, and quite a bit less than when they ate the same meal open eyed. I'm thinking of giving it a try -- my lab has been waiting for a new assignment :)! (If you're interested, here's a link to the episode -- http://www.doctoroz.com/episode/new-hypnosis-weight-loss#cmpid=em061913)

Feeling good again today with beautiful weather here in the northeast. And, the plans for our out-of-town guests are falling into place... so no new drama there. Tennis this morning, meeting a good friend for coffee this afternoon & will fit in housework and getting the place ready for our guests throughout.

But, first I'll start my day in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And throughout this one day and each one meal, bite, moment and emotion, I'll pray, breathe, post & express my way. And, I'll remember all the blessings in my life and be grateful! xoxox

Sounds like you have a lovely day ahead. Wish we could meet for coffee too, and sit in the sun for a blether. Hugs and thanks for the PM :)

Kingkeld has had a go at Paul McKenna... I have his book and DVD... Some of the stuff stuck with me. Things like, putting your knife and fork down, after each mouthful and not picking it up until you stop chewing; Smaller plates; THINKING about what you are eating and concentrating on it; being aware of when you are full, and then stopping... Plus a couple of other bits - common sense really, but sometimes it takes someone to point out the obvious.

I imagine the 'blind folded' thing does work because it's like anything else - eating with attention and focus even when you can't see. But I do think it'd be an interesting experiment and look forward to reading your lab review :-)
