Looking at the insane partial results of the Italian elections.

What's going on?

The left wing party has the majority in only one of the Chambers of the Parliament. In the other one, the right wings party (Berlusconi) might have the majority. The party who had the highest number of votes is leaded by a former comedian, and he does not want allies. So, as the result of elections, it's not clear how the next government is going to be formed and it's going to be very unstable. Plus, in a few months, the Parliament has to elect a new President of the Republic. Not good news, at all...

I'm a little out of the loop regarding politics in Europe, but it seems that Italy is in a bad place for a few years... Would you lose your Italian citizenship if you get the German one? Does citizenship matter now with the European Union?

@Bella I think there is either the opportunity to keep double citizenship or only one of them (German or Italian). Actually, citizenship does not really matter too much with the European Union. I am so pissed off by how badly things are going in my country, that I would consider getting a different citizenship only as a form of protest.

I understand, sometimes it seems that voting doesn't change much with how the country is managed. To get another citizenship may be the thing to do if you don't want to be part of the mess... I must say leaving France and getting my canadian citizenship was my way to say I have enough of you french politics!

I've heard some of it. It does sound crazy.

Good choice Bella, and France it's already way better than Italy from the social and political point of view.

@Helewis: Yes, it is crazy. The craziest thing ever, to me, it's the 30% that still voted for Berlusconi... I mean, 20 years as Prime Minister or as leader of the opposition were not enough? I really hope we have new elections in six months and maybe we'll really see new faces and new ideas in the Italian Parliament, hopefully.

I don't know a whole lot about politics but I am definitely not fond of our president here in America either. So glad this term is his last. My worry is could they possibly do even worse next time?

I agree iama! It scares me what could be done before 2016 too! We seem to have one that tends to do whatever he wants and bullies others through his position....
