Diana 1234's Journal, 09 January 2024

Well…don’t really know what to say…I feel like a broken record! Again, I did a carb cycle. This time ate extremely clean. Kept carbs at around 25, which even in a carb cycle is low! Protein was over 120 and fat wasn’t as good as I’d like but got it to 25+. I find it hard to get fat up when eating clean. Calories were to low however. Just had a hard time remembering all components. Was so Uber focused on getting carbs down and protein up. When I carb cycle like this I typically lose 2-3 lbs. Last time and this time I didn’t lose anything. I’m pretty perplexed. I’m still moving forward. I will not carb cycle today but will try to keep carbs at about 50 grams and protein over 120. I bought a bunch of low carb vegetables so I’m set for the day. Gotta get my fat up though and calories higher. I was under 1,000 yesterday. That’s too low, and may have affected outcome. Let’s see what happens on day 2. My nutritionist is the one that advised this clean carb cycle and then recommended a similar WOE that Red Porch Lady is following. ( high protein days, low carb days, and eating clean, unprocessed foods) On a positive note, I have upped my weights again at the gym. I about 65-70% from where I was before heart procedure. I know some would say maybe my weight gain was from muscle gain but it simply is from bad eating since Thanksgiving. I will keep trying…can’t go backwards, I worked to hard to lose the 60 lbs I had gained over the years..

Eat half an avocado if you want to get fat grams up! I'm going through and analyzing what I am doing as well!

I seem to be stuck, too. I haven't cut back as far as you, but I thought I might see at least a small decrease after the Gym yesterday. Keep doing what you're doing. It will happen 😊

Fritzy, I have an avocado and dk why I didn't think to eat it...I will do it today! I did speak to my nutritionist this morning and she said that I probably didn't lose weight as I'm restricting my calories too much and same with fat. She said with increased weight lifting, my body is trying to hold on to calories and fat to fuel itself. Gotta up those ! I made a good omelet for breakfast. 1 egg and 1/2 c egg whites, spinach and Parm cheese on top. That should help. Making a big salad with lunch today and will use avocado in that. Made a homemade vinegrette to up fat level as well. It's all about experimenting till we get it right...

Nuts are a good way to add calories, protein and fiber all at the same time.

Sherrye, Thanks. I think I'll be ok and you will too. You just need to find that balance you had. You are very good at that. Liv, thanks. I do feel good about fitness progress!🩷 Larilyn, Yes! I do like almonds and did have a few ..not enough I guess🩷

Diana you need more calories. Im with your nutritionist. When i make an omelette i put something like 6 egg whites in. Purely to get more protein but not a huge hit on the caloric side. Weren’t you roughly 1400-1600 cal. A day previous to surgery? Your body has taken a hit and its still adjusting back to the invasion into itself perhaps. Im 5 months post-op and can still absolutely tell my body isn’t feeling quite itself. In the abdominal area. Healing is a tricky thing. Xoxo darlin. Hope your day is lovely. We are without power right now and my tablet is at 34% so when that dies i will just be sitting in the dark with the pups. Hubs is working. We have had some pretty serious winds.

YOH, I was eating between 1300-1500 before my surgery. I am tring to keep my carbs low but in meantime can't get enough calories. I did eat a good amount of food today but still came in low. Nutritionist says to add more protein but honestly, I can only eat so much meat and eggs..

Protein shake as in protein shake with frozen fruit in blender? Nuts? Kodiak protein pancakes? My diet has been crap last 10 days so i feel hypocritical just trying to help.

Halo Top. Two birds, one stone. Or Greek yogurt. Doesn’t have to be fat free.

Katsolo, can't have those and keep carbs under 40-50 grams. Thankfully it ends today.💜 YOH, no processed foods and powdered protein is very processed. Also no fruit as too many carbs. Like I told Katsolo, it was only for 2 days. Its supposed to jump start my system..I had a few nuts yesterday and Kodiac has a lot of carbs... Go eat dinner! ( I say with live!)

You need more calories, fat and carbs? Why more protein? You get so much now. I can see calories if you are much lower than normal. I often have just 2 tablespoons of roasted, salted pumpkin seeds for close to 5 grams of protein. Maybe add beans to something. I feel so bad for you that this is so frustrating for you

Have you got your thyroid checked? Eating less than 100 grams of carbohydrates for some people can put you at greater chances of developing hypothyroidism. Carbohydrates help your thyroid produce the active t3 hormone, which is responsible for how fast your metabolism is. Also, a diet low in fat leads to sluggish bile flow, which then can cause the inability to lose weight or a struggle. Try incorporating more healthy fats and fibers to help balance your hormones. Your liver is not only responsible for bile production, but some of your thyroid hormone t4 and t3 are made in your liver. I hope this helps you ❤️☺️, stay strong 💪 and don't give up.

Don't despair, you are doing great. The last few pounds are the hardest.

Fritzy, This low carb cycle is meant to jump start your system. Typically I do it for one day but with help from my nutritionist we decided to try for 2 days. Athletes often use this WOE to help with performance but I have used it in the past when I'm up in weight and it has never failed to help me lose those last few pounds...until now. I did manage to get my calories up a bit yesterday and still keep my carbs low. I did my 2 days and I am discouraged that I did not lose any weight at all. I'm perplexed. The only thing I have noticed is how flat my stomach is. That happens when I eat clean. Processed foods give me a puffy middle. I will return to my regular WOE today but I actually like eating clean so may continue that .My nutritionistdid say to trust the process so I'm trying to do that. We shall see what next couple of days show

Babybear, thanks for that info. It was very interesting 💜I already have a low thyroid, I have Hashimotos. I was just a drs in Nov and al #s were perfect so I can't see that changing drastically in n a couple of months. It is possible though. I go back for recheck in Feb . I just had a heart procedure ( pacemaker replaced and 2 lead extractions) in Nov and it could be possible that is playing a part but I've had an incredible recovery. I went back to gym after 2 weeks and at 4 weeks post op I'm about 65-70% back to pre op weightlifting.I do see a nutritionist. I hope this works but at least I'm eating clean foods, which helps my auto immune system stay in check 💜

Penderg, Charlie, thanks guys! I appreciate your support and hope I will post a drop soon! 💜

I'm glad you found that info interesting, considering that you have hashimoto's you should try adopting the AIP diet. Also, you should check out Dr. Westin Childs youtube channel he has a lot of great information about hashimoto's and how to lose weight with this autoimmune disease. Also maybe try investing in a good quality over the ccounterth thyroid supplement. ❤️❤️ Hope you feel better soon
