ReannaNasrina's Journal, 09 October 2014

I logged on my food journal yesterday. I am a bit surprised to see my sugar intake is so high when I added low fat plain yogurt and low fat milk into my diet. Meanwhile soy milk doesn't contain that much sugar as i always thought it is. So is it the nutrition label that cannot be trusted? I thought plain yogurt and low fat milk doesn't contain sugars coz it doesn't appear on the nutrition fact. haha silly me. Should I stop consuming dairy products? I don't want the high sugar intake to mess up with my weight.

Soy milk is good. It contains fiber and all 9 of the essential amino acids. For guys it can be a problem getting too much soy because it is a good source of estrogen. But that is not a reason to abandon it entirely. On the nutrition label, fiber and sugar can be listed as carbs. Things that are 100% sugar are said to be "fat free" because the sugar has the potential to be used immediately for energy or to be stored as fat for energy later on. This used to make me made but I realized it wasn't going to change so I just learned to read their language. heh Dairy is good but in very small amounts. Fat, sugar, carbs, cholesterol are all pretty much things to either stay completely away from or strictly limit. Cholesterol is necessary for life but there are so many types. Monounsaturated is the best. Trans Fat is a killer. Saturated fat is on the fence. You need to read up on those if you have not.

Low fat plain yogurt and low fat milk have lactose, a natural sugar. So does low fat cottage cheese. If you keep your sugars below 50 grams a day you can lose weight faster. You don't need to stop the dairy, just be watching your food log and if your sugar is higher that day, you can eliminate the dairy for that day. If it fits your plan, eat it!

Lactose and lactose are good for you just like the natural sugars in fruits and vegetables. I usually have around 150g of carbs a day, mostly dairy and fruits and veggies, and I'm losing weight like crazy. Just avoid white sugar, fruit juices, baked goods, and moderate pasta and rice. It's all about the quality of the carbs you consume. And drink lots of water.

Stay away from anything low fat ...no fat.....in order to make it low fat and no fat they have to put something back into it...guess what?....SUGAR!...you are better off eating whole fat foods than low fat foods or no fat foods...I never buy anything low fat or no fat.....I am on low carb high fat..Atkins plan and they stipulate to never buy low fat or fat free or no fat....all of those products are so full of sugar etc...
