Happy hump day! Missing my BFF who is on vacation. Getting some long overdue work done at the office while boss is out of town. Yesterday we had a scheduled "lunch & learn" during the noon hour - the course was litigation so I needed to sit in. These lunch and learns are voluntary (on your lunch hour) and you bring your own lunch. The day prior to the L&L we were told that our "fun" committee scheduled a 1:00 o'clock pizza party to watch the futball game. However, you couldn't do both (2 lunch hours). So, to avoid the pizza, I opted for the boring litigation course. Ugh. But happy about the decision today cause the scale shows I'm going down.

Yesterday was also the first day of my personal training session for kettle bells and TRX. Was an intro lesson so not too difficult (but I did work up a sweat and felt the burn). The trainer took my measurements so we will see what happens at the end of the month. Pretty cool - didn't hurt my knees or back at all. The kettlebell a really work your abs and core muscles. I am excited to see how this helps with my regular gym workouts.

Question: I've always heard - eat the egg whites only. Last night I heard Dr. Oz say to eat the entire egg. Your opinion? Another thing I need to read up on. I'm not wanting to give up the yolk so I'm going with the doctor so far.

Doctor Oz is a quack, don't take what he says too seriously. HOWEVER, I always eat the whole egg lol. All of the vitamins and minerals are in the yolk. A white is only good for about 3 grams of protein for 15 calories. I prefer the whole 70 calorie egg which comes with 6 grams of protein. People freak out about the fat and cholesterol in the yolk, but people are crazy lol. Great job picking the boring and more nutritionally sound lunch break option. It was a solid choice, even if it sucked. I like kettle bell workouts, but I've been lacking because I got bored with the same ol routine. I should get back into that. Sorry you're missing your BFF, but speaking of people being MIA, where the hell has your cousin KKD been? Haven't heard from her in ever. I hope you have a great day kiki :)

I agree with Yo on the quack and the egg. Eat the whole thing. Egg whites are just pointless, IMHO.

Yolanda, be nice. If we called all the doctors who pushed "low fat...(sugar)" we would be saying they are "quacks" also. That is why it is good to sit down and figure things out for oneself. You gave her some great advice about the egg. It's a learning experience for each individual to monitor what works and does not work for them. Kiki you are going to love the Kettlebells. You are working all the muscles at one time. Congrats on your avoiding the unhealthy carbs. too. Tip, eat the toppings off the pizza and leave the bread.

Thanks, all! I don't think I could do just the whites. I like the doctor okay enough, but still tend to research stuff myself - and part of that is all of your "professional" opinions!! Yolanda, my cousin, Kkd is currently enjoying a much deserved vacation in Hawaii with her family (I believe part of it is an anniversary trip). Kids went as well, but so did grandparents. Hopefully she'll get then to watch the kiddos for some alone time with hubby. I've seen her posts and pics on FB and she looks beautiful! I think she was absent prior to that because of the move to her new house. I'll let her know you asked about her. 😊

I eat the whole egg that's how you get a complete protein with the egg, if you only eat the whites you don't get the complete protein. Great job with the kettle balls!

Your body produces far more cholesterol than you'll get by eating a few eggs. Dietary cholesterol is also necessary for producing several hormones. Further, restricting carbs somewhat reduces the body's ability to assimilate all the cholesterol you eat. If you're worried and want the protein with a little less fat, toss every second yolk when it's of concern to you. One more thing. That old saying 'an apple a day keeps the Dr. away?' Right on Grandma! Apples contain pectin. Cholesterol will attach to pectin and be carried out of the body. There's so much 'cool' to learn.

Thanks SK and NM! I like the imagery of the cholesterol attaching to the pectin. Love apples so gonna get this going!

I have to cut back on my eggs due to the fat content. I am having to cut back on all my fat intake. and the eggs were a lot higher than I thought. So if you are not in this position I would eat the whole egg ..yolk and all....moderately
