MrsTofu's Journal, 04 June 2014

So this week's focus in the school of sanctification is...radical obedience, oh and humility. Um, yeah, that's just a wee bit outside my comfort zone. 0_o However, I see growth in these areas, which is exciting and invigorating.

For those whom that may just sound like code or doubletalk, I am recognizing a divine challenge: Am I willing to trust G-d and submit to the leadership He's placed over me when the direction they give me doesn't make sense or seem right to me? Yikes!

Sometimes this is much harder because I have the urge to rebel. My inner dialogue/monologue is saying, "This doesn't make sense. WHY am I doing this? Do I REALLY have to do it THIS way? Can this be over with NOW?" Etc., And to get past this I keep trying to breathe deeply and think, G-d, I don't know why this is part of Your plan, but if You are leading, I can follow. Maybe this is my Naaman-at-the-Jordan-River moment. This thing you want me to do may not make sense to me, but it's simple and clear. Thank You for making the path straight.

He has never led me astray before. His plan has always worked out better then anything I could have ever thought of either. Sometimes just realizing that makes everything go much smoother.

Just curious why you are typing G-d and not God?

Thanks Christian! Deborah, it just happens to be a quirk of mine borrowed from Hebraic custom. More orthodox/ conservative Jews do this as a sign of respect and deference as well as distinction. Even though I am not Jewish, I observe this practice with essentially the same motivations, to keep Him set apart from any other type of idol in my own mind as well as to demonstrate the uniqueness of divine identity. When I hear people talk about gods and God it is relatively meaningless to me oftentimes because that could refer to many, different, nebulous and/or conflicting views. However, G-d is a moniker specific to the Bible. (Similar to using titles like Abba or Adonai.) It is important to me that it be unequivocally clear that MY god is THAT god. G-d is completely unlike any other religious focal point, so I identify Him to help people who may not know Him be able to recognize Him better (as well as undermine/ disarm groundless assumptions people may have due to ignorance and prevalent misinformation).

oh ok. Never heard that before but I can see your point. We learns something new everyday if we take the time to want to learn. Thanks.
