Doctor visit went well, blood pressure was good, we are going to decrease my statin dose, so that made me happy. Cleared for surgery, so tomorrow I see the surgeon to get all the details taken care of. Due to my insurance my blood works get sent out to an independent lab, so it will be more than a week before I know any results.
Got some disturbing news this past week, my best friend of almost 40 yrs had a heart attack last Wed, and due to the fact that she has no insurance she refused to go to the hospital. Thank God she survived (how I don't know without medical intervention) but she is doing well, saw her Dr and things are looking good, but quite a scare for all of us. This put my weight loss in a new perspective, she is 1 yr younger than me and about 40 lbs lighter, so it makes getting this weight off even more critical to my health! Sure was a wake up call to stop this weight loss merry go round and finally get it done!

Focusing on this as a lifestyle change or a health program may be better in the long run :)

Man, I'm so sorry to hear that! I had a very close friend pass away in January from a heart attack. She was 34 and not overweight (maybe 15 pounds from ideal weight maybe) - she had high blood pressure that she was trying to manage through exercise but she had a "widowmaker" heart attack at 34. Huge wake up call for me too. Glad to hear about the statin - keep up the great work!

Notjune1, that is the one thing I like so much about this plan, that I can see this as a lifestyle for me to follow forever. I have tried all the diets just like everybody on here and my weight has been like a yoyo during all those years. Lose weight when I am on them and gain weight when I go off. Actually after 7 weeks each day gets easier figuring out what to do and eat to stay within my perimeters that I have set up. I don't panic when I go out because I know it is easy to stay on plan. This time I don't see this as a diet but a new way to fight my sugar addiction. Thanks for your input. :)

Thanks Steph for the support I really appreciate it! Well I did cheat today (not with food) LOL but I weighed myself today and I am down another lb! After my good weigh in at the Dr yesterday I wanted to check my scale without clothes! Wanted to make a comment about the heart attack issue, first off I want to say how sorry I am at the loss of your friend, I don't know what I would do if I lost my BFF, we are so close I would be lost without her! But this is basically FYI info for anyone. Two years ago my Dr suggested a test, that would take a view of my heart and lungs. Down here it is called Heart View, it is totally non-invasive, takes ten mins, you don't even have to get undressed. The only downside (I didn't see it as a downside) was that it's not covered by ins, but it's only $69! I had one done, mainly because my parents both died of lung cancer related disease and I was an ex smoker and was worried I was headed down that path. My results were astounding, no blockage or calcification in my arteries and outside of a little scarring in my right lower lobe my lungs showed no sign of any active disease! The Dr said I had the heart of a 30 yr old. I cannot tell you what peace of mind that gave me and hope that getting off this weight could really extend my life. So to all out there who are concerned about heart or lung disease and you want to do something preventative and proactive, check with your Dr or hospital to see if it is offered in your area. I live in a small rural area outside of Nashville, and if they have it out here I am sure they have it just about everywhere!

Thanks for the info Claudia. I know that my regular dr was an internal medicine guy in Memphis and he did much more "standard" tests than what I've found out with GPs. I might have to move to an internal med dr just because they do look at more. I had a regular physical a few months ago and was startled that they didn't do an EKG. I thought those were standard after I've been going to an Int Med dr for so long... Oh well, I'll have to add that to my list as I think it would (hopefully) make me feel better or would bring to light any issues that are out there.

Oh I am so glad your friend is ok.. so scarey isn't it. We just never know.. so we have to keep on our path and never give up. Good luck with surgery!!
