Cheeks's Journal, 15 September 2008

Finally caught up with work, and now getting caught up on journals. Its been pretty hectic with us. We went to our first donor egg seminar, and received more information on that. We did find out that we are mentally further along then many of the other couples that were at the seminar. So that was good to learn. Its also such an expensive process for a "chance" and no guarantee! Get this…if insurance covers us, then we "only have to pay $25,000 out of pocket". ONLY?! Dang! If they don’t cover us, then its $35k-$40k out of pocket! UGH!!!! I still can't get over the price…I'm in "sticker shock"!!! Sooo now we wait…again. Hubby has already had his testing that’s needed, so now we are waiting for Aunt Flo to visit me so I can get more testing that’s needed as well (apparently the tests expire every 6 months). The whole process for someone motivated, like us, apparently it 3 to 4 months…sooooooo maybe I'll make it before I turn 40. =)

Sooo please keep your fingers and toes crossed that once we go through the testing, donor selection (that’s a strange one too…you actually see adult photos of the donors!), that hopefully it be a successful transfer and we'll be parents soon.

I haven't been doing too bad food wise. Been good during the week, but then the weekends have been challenging. I always seem to have one bad day out of the two on the weekends. So far it hasn't bitten me in the butt yet…but figure it’s a matter of time, so I need to start focusing again, and not go all out.

We have been doing a TON of house work, feels great. I feel like I've been in a funk for a while now with this fertility stuff, so FINALLY I feel like I have my motivation back. You could eat off the floors. =) We have caulked the tub, fixed transformers for track lighting, repairing a leaky sink….going to paint a few walls that need it…been filing, going through old paperwork, etc. etc. etc.

Sooo that’s the kind of month its been. Looks for more frequenting postings to your journals now! =)

*fingers & toes crossed* I wish you and your hubby all the best. Sounds scary and great all at the same time! It's great that you & hubby are mentally prepared. That's very important. My hubby & I decided to stop clomid (was on it for 1 month) and just try again naturally. We'll see what happens. We've been trying since last June but it's been sporadic w/all his international travel. It's great that you're keeping preoccupied w/the house and other things. Good luck!

All that housework - it sounds like you're "nesting"! Wishing you all the best in this interesting/expensive/nerve-wracking experience!

Prayers are coming for you also! What an emotional journey for you! I feel for you. I had 2 miscarriages & had a very hard time even getting p.g. I finally had a son & he was 5 weeks early, 3lb. 13 oz. now he is 6'3" & over 200 lbs!! It is so very emotional. I feel good for you. You exude a GREAT spirit & seem so excited about this! Praying for both of you!
