redwinelover's Journal, 18 September 2010

Wow! The concert was AMAZING! I'm still exhausted... we were standing for 8 solid hours, all in the same spot! Couldn't even bend over to relieve the back, you know? BUT...I'd do it again in a heart beat. So nice to go to a concert with my son and really into the music, too. It was SO hot when we got there (108) and supposedly you could take two unopened, one liter bottles of water in. Jerk at the gate claims they changed it to ONE, so we had to toss a bottle. And I wasn't thinking, or we would have just bought a couple. We were maybe three people back, center stage and not about to leave for water, food, drinks or the bathroom! Can't believe i made it that long :)...But it was great, the two bands that we were looking forward to were awesome (The Cult and Stone Temple Pilots) and had great stage presence, too. And I'm not even deaf today! Got home close to 1:00 - loved the walk back to his car - great way to stretch out the back.

Anyway, weight was down this morning - probably due to being dehydrated, but I recorded it, knowing that's where I should be by all rights anyway, "doing the math". And yesterday I burned close to 3350 calories, too. Actually a little surprised it wasn't even more in some ways. Oh Lord, the SWEAT! I was dripping for hours. SO thirsty but ... chewed gum instead... HA! Yeah...THAT worked. So anyway, I had about 8 hours of activity according to the bodybugg, too. Apparently standing too close to the slam dancing (and getting pushed a number of times) and simply standing and jumping up and down and yelling burns a decent amount of calories! So I'll rest the rest of today, and hopefully have a really GOOD workout tomorrow. No regrets... this time with my son can never be replaced :)

Wow, RWL, that sounds amazing!! The weather here is getting a little warmer right now, but it won't last long. Summer is breathing it's last gasp and fall is knocking on the door. The leaves are starting to turn, the nights are getting cool, and the humidity is trying to leave. My son and I spent the afternoon working the chainsaws, cutting up the trees that we felled on Thursday, stacking wood, and enjoying each other's company. We work well together. He is such a fine young man. I got my Slim in 6 done, half my walk (started storming, and I don't walk in lightning), but didn't do my Pilates. Just too worn out from cutting, lifting, and stacking logs!!

Hi hottagain - that's pretty cool...did you have a great time, too? :) And lee911-- it WAS truly amazing! Thanks for dropping by here :)... ctlss - cutting, lifting and stacking logs is WAY harder than Pilates. Or just about any workout DVD! The only time I've cut wood or split it has been camping and a couple of logs is "fun", then it's just WORK! :) BUT...next time I'll be thinking about you doing that and realize just how many calories I'm burning in the process.... Man, do I want to go camping! soon, I hope... Hi Lisa! Thanks for the kudos... wish the afterburner would last a few DAYS! Things like that concert take a lot more out of me than those "young'uns" out there! And Klannoye...could you even IMAGINE the trouble the two of us could get into??? It would be ... I don't know... a CLOTHED version of middle-aged-women gone wild?! LOL...

Sounds like a wonderful experience and something that your son will always remember with great happiness like you do.

I agree with comments above. You can never trade in time with your kids. The concert sounds awesome, maybe not the 108 degrees though! And sweet, sweet weightloss. HOT DAMN! Can't imagine chewing gum instead of swigging a little water lol. have a great week!

What a fantastic evening, and well done staying on your feet for 8 (did you really say EIGHT?) hours: that'll be your fitness talking and supporting. _______________ But what a total [expletive of choice] plonker making you give up your second bottle of water. Actually that's incredibly irresponsible: 1 litre of water in that sort of heat, for that length of time is not close to enough; even 2 is barely cutting it. The organisers are lucky they didn't get lots of punters with heat exhaustion and worse (or maybe they did?).

WHY WE GOTTA BE A "clothed" VERSION????? Ha ha ha - DONT ANSWER!!!!!!! LMAO!

I know I have to journal for today, but wanted to thank the rest who commented, too! Andrea, thanks, I'm sure it'll be a great memory for both. And Youngbug - chewing gum helped a LITTLE, but NOTHING replaces water. But still, worth it! Ruby. yeah... it really WAS eight hours! Had I known ahead of time? Uh...don't know what I would have thought of it. I really thought I'd at least walk to the bathroom or to go get something to drink. Yeah, I thought it was irresponsible of them, too, but they did have booths with food and drink for sale. Still...why change things at the last minute? And they NEVER changed the website, which makes me think the guy was probably just being an ass. Probably hated standing out in the 108 degree heat! :D Klannoye...will NOT answer that one on an open forum! :)
