Scale strike is over...if only for today! 135.4. A drop, not a BIG one, but a drop, finally. I did manage to stick to a lower calorie day (finally!) yesterday and maybe that was the impetus needed to finally get moving again. Today will be my last Insanity workout, then it's a day of rest, then six days of Core Cardio and Balance. I peeked a bit at that routine and just from speeding through it, can't see how it's all that much different from what I've been doing. But I hope it'll give my knees a much needed rest. Also thinking I need a different insert in my shoes. It seems like the ones I've been using really put a lot of my weight on the outer parts of my feet. Which would help explain both the knee pain and the ankle pain.

I think I'm going to try to keep my calories around 1300 for a while - that or just increase the amount I'm moving during the day. Yesterday I did a typical Insanity workout, but also vacuumed and did some shopping and carrying groceries, an errand, etc. and managed to burn a lot more calories than usual. Which all that means is I really have to DO things during the day other than sit here and work out. I can't wait until it's cooler so I can also walk.

Just got a call from the endo's office and the doctor is out of town on vacation. But I was told she's calling in periodically and they will relay my request for an increase in thyroid. I hope she just approves it and I can get blood work in another six weeks or so. I SO want that feeling of all is right with the world, the energy to accomplish things and the positive-ness in attitude I feel when my thyroid seems to be functioning normally. I think it's AMAZING how much this little gland controls and how overlooked it is. Especially for women, and especially for women "of a certain age" since a lot of doctors will just say you're getting older, it's to be expected, or to blame it all on pre-menopausal symptoms and try to throw synthetic estrogen at you.

As I mentioned previously, it's Day 26 of Insanity (day 27 if I'd done the fit test and the first work out on days 1 & 2 instead of both the same day). I'm sure this won't be a difficult workout to get through, knowing I can rest after that.

In the hopes my brother will be able to make it this weekend (he just had a lot of dental work done), I should through the super-clean on this place. Well...at least the downstairs :) Sure needs it and I'd be burning calories at the same time.....lots of plans...now let's see the follow-thru! Isn't it RIDICULOUS what a .6 loss on the scale can do? I SO should NOT let the scale determine my outlook. Oh HEY....KLANNOYE!!! :) NO, not looking like Miss Olympia or whatever you said! LOL Although I will admit to a certain amount of pride at some of my he-man muscles for an old lady! LOL.

I noticed I have been having some knee and ankle pain too with Insanity. I am on Day 18 now, but I have not been on a scale yet. I like what it is doing to my body, but wow do I feel so fatigued.

I agree with Klannoye a loss is a loss! Your such an inspiration and so motivated!

Hi Jill...I'm not seeing much weight loss with this INSANE workout, but yeah...I definitely see muscle definition and some body changes going on. I do wonder if I can get through the rest of the program with the knee and ankle pain. Just hope I didn't tear a tendon or something. I've got a brace on my ankle now, too! I'm looking like a mummy here! LOL At least you have youth on your side...

Hi TJ...Thanks for saying I'm an "inspiration"! That still comes as such a shock to me when it comes to inspiring ANYONE else for working out! LOL But it's really nice to hear...

I hope you didn't tear anything either. Haha, looking like a mummy may be a prerequisite for mummy kicks. I have Cardio Recovery today and I am avoiding it even though I know it has to get done. Did you take before pics when you started Insanity? I know a lot of people do Day 1 and Day 30. I love reading your blog, you have a knack for writing!

Hi nurse Jill! :) No, I didn't take before pictures...I wish I had. I DID take before measurements, though. Did you take pictures? Hahaha...wrapped head to toe like a mummy for the mummy kicks! I know what you mean...the Cardio Recovery day really isn't difficult at all, but I blew it off the other day and vegged, so I'm technically a day behind. But it was worth it for me, anyway. I was feeling EXHAUSTED! So a day of absolute rest and eating too much (for a "diet") and I felt good to go. Just finished my workout for today and I've got my legs propped up, an ice pack on my knees and another on my ankle! I sure hope I heal tomorrow... Let me know how your knees and ankles do as you go with this, too, okay? And the fatigue...which doesn't really make too much sense to me. I'm exhausted doing this and I don't burn any nore calories doing this workout as I do with one of Jillian's tougher workouts. And I NEVER felt this fatigued after working out. It's weird. And thanks for saying you like reading my journal! :)

Hey RWL since I don't know your first name :), I did take before pics. I think I am already seeing a difference in the short amount of time. I did do the recovery even though I had no motivation to do it. I don't get the fatigue either, the only thing I can thing of is maybe it is such high intensity and an all over workout in such a short amount of time. I did one of Jillian's workouts and I didn't think it was half as tough as this. I think you need to have things you enjoy once in a while as a treat or else you would just sabotage the whole diet thing. Once a week I enjoy a few little things I crave all week. This week it is going to be Gummy Bears. Hope your knees are doing ok!

Hi Jill - really smart to have taken the pics. You'll probably be glad you did the recovery day, just to get it out of the way. I totally agree that this work out is WAY more intense than Jillian's, but I have a bodybugg that tracks how many calories I'm burning and for the 40 min. or so of Insanity workouts, I'm averaging less than 350 cal. which is about what I'd average (per minute) with her tougher ones like Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism, or when I'd combine 30 Day Shred with Cardio Max. This Insanity is definitely higher intensity AND does seem to hit just about all of the body parts (including those we forgot about). I joke with my husband (half joking, really) that my ass has hurt for nearly 4 weeks straight. :) I agree, gotta have something as a treat - but that hunger thing last week was amazing. It wasn't a "craving" per se, more of a "I'm hungry all day long" feeling. Haven't felt way since the beginning. Do you feel more hungry than usual or just more fatigued?

Whew you guys wore me out just reading your journals, let alone do any exercise. You are wired today!! Got that metabolism burning I bet. Hey, great loss. Who cares how big a drop it is... it's DOWN!! Congratulations! My opinion on fake hormones......don't! I am so glad I never took that stuff. If I had, and THEN got the breast cancer, it would have spread like wildfire. I researched it and chose not to take it. Am so glad I made that decision. It's not the greatest thing and it's only to make you "feel" better. Not worth it to me. Have a wonderful week and again, YOU GO GIRL!

Hi NN - I agree! And you'd never know if you inadvertantly "caused" it in the first place. Nope, I'll stick with my thyroid meds and a little progesterone cream to ease the hot flashes. (I know it's a hormone, but so far not tied to any estrogen dependent cancers that I'm aware of - just don't want to dry up and shrivel away to dust just yet! :) I'm glad I did the work out, but I'm SO glad tomorrow is a day of rest! And thank God for ice packs!!

I think I am a little of both, but it probably doesn't help that my calorie count is usually around 900-1000 a day. OMG, one day last week I felt like you, it was about 8:00pm and I had this hunger pang like I had not eaten in a week. I ate a fiber one bar and bowl of cereal and nothing! BRUTAL. I am shocked how little Insanity burns, but I guess for about an hour it is a good amount of calories. Funny you joke about your ass hurting for week, before I did Insanity faithfully I decided to just do Pure Cardio. Well, I could not walk for 3 days and I couldn't even bare the thought of working out. I was terrified when it came to doing the video this time, but I did not have the same issue this time. :)

You are an inspiration and you give me great advice too. I read your post every day and re-read it if I am thinking of skipping my workout to help me get motivated.
