Fritzy 22's Journal, 27 November 2019

Started yesterday with a breakfast of around 700 calories. Back to having my normal mug of hot chocolate which is over 200 calories. Then a large piece of toast, over 180 calories for one slice, with butter and 2 scrambled eggs with shredded cheese.

I had planned on making a chuck roast for dinner with carrots, potatoes and onion. I knew there was a big chance I would eat too much. It was a small roast - I had cut a huge boneless chuck roast that I bought at Costco into 3 pieces and froze. My sister lives a couple blocks away and she is usually home alone. I called her to see if she wanted to come over for dinner and she said yes, but her 2 grandkids were staying with her and her husband was also home. So there were 5 of us to share a roast big enough for maybe 3 regular size servings. I had added extra carrots and potatoes and made cornbread. Worked out fine, I'm sure we all wished there had been more roast (it was so good!). The kids ate everything which is always rewarding because they can be picky eaters. I ate very little, maybe 2 bites of meat to make sure everyone else got enough. Lots of potatoes left and I gave Bobby some. He loved them, while my sister's dog just sniffed at them. Bobby will eat anything I eat if he gets the chance.

So I am up today close to 2 pounds but not worried about it. Makes me more motivated to NOT eat too much tomorrow.

That's what happens to me, the little things that taste so good really add up quick - half & half in coffee, butter, cheese.. Have a nice Holiday.

Sounds like a lovely meal shared with your sister family. 💕

RgaDawg - I don't drink coffee but need my morning hot chocolate. But it is 225 calories if I use a 12 oz mug. I get a big percentage of protein from dairy which is why I use 12 ounces of fat free milk. I'm going to try to avoid things like eggnog and other holiday items that are so easy to consume that add up to so many calories. That's the plan anyway. Becc - it was a nice unplanned event to have my sister and brother in law and the kids for dinner. I figured I'd see them all at Thanksgiving. But I worried about making the roast - it's hard to cook something like that for one and too easy to over eat!

I was going long periods (long for me only) I guess I should say I was waiting until about 1 p.m. to eat which ended up being about a 16 hour fast- but then I found I really love a huge breakfast and not eating again until 4 or 5. It just works better for me- especially when I go to the gym in the morning. I like to refuel. It's toast beforehand and eggs and misc. afterwards. Not quite sure where I was going with this whole thing. I think I was just thinking that your 700 cal in the a.m. and then a little roast doesn't seem like a reason to be up but maybe I don't know the full calories and I think I recall you saying you eat way less calories than I do. (Sorry for the novel. I got carried away)

Most of the time I could care less about eating until 5-6pm as long as I have coffee. Lately I've felt hungry in the morning and am beginning to wonder if I should appease that hunger and eat less in the evening?

Same-Bella. I always thought I would never be able to stop eating at night and so going as long as I could in the morning without food seemed the only thing I could do but I'm realizing I actually have been doing well with it.

DP and Bella - I always have something in the morning and then my main meal somewhere between noon and 3pm and usually don't eat after that. I try to keep my calories between 1000-1200. Having 700+ for breakfast yesterday with a roast later in the day would have put me around 1400-1500, but I ate very little of the roast including the potatoes and corn that I was around 1300 I think. Gains of up to 3 pounds don't worry me because my weight fluctuates 3-5 pounds daily even when I stay exactly on plan.

I buy a low cal hot chocolate. It’s like 20 kcal a cup I think.
