I discovered the most awesome thing on my body yesterday...Clavicles! I mean, I remember seeing them in the front from time to time over my life, but can't remember seeing them and being able to follow the line to the tops of my shoulders. Wow. Gotta love working out, 'cause Lord knows, I'm not skinny! :) I'm loving this journey. I remember when I first started seeing a little bit of definition in my arms. Then a bit later I saw "cuts" in my arms - cool little indents in the outer, upper part of my arms at the shoulders. Then I began to see the "dimples" in the lower back above the butt. Well, okay, not really see the dimples, more like seeing where they should be! lol Still, pretty cool. And my legs have ALWAYS been a problem area, even as a kid. But once in a while I see a little cut above the knee in the middle, an indent between the individual quadricepts - never seen that before, ever. And definitely seeing the quadricepts show more definition. Not to say my legs are looking good! But I can see the shadow of what's to come and it's exciting! My upper back is beginning to show muscle, too. I've got a waist now - I've lost either 5 or 5 1/2" in my waist (can't remember the actual number and know I was also sucking in when I measured it! I just knew I needed it to be under that scary (health-wise) 35" for women at the time and barely made it. I don't know the rest of my starting measurements, didn't record them anywhere until March 3, 10 weeks into this, and after about a ten pound weight loss. I'm willing to bet I've lost about the same from my hips, and at least 3" from each thigh, and a couple inches from each upper arm. What I feel best about, though, is that I know I've not lost an ounce of muscle through this process, but most likely have gained a few pounds of muscle since the end of Dec. That's important at my age. Guess today's journal is all about patting myself on the back :}

The chart looks really good and the clavicles indicate great strides in that area as well. Thanks so much for your considerate comment today and keep up the great work buddy, you are doing excellent work!

Thanks so much, Info! I think it's especially cool of you to post positive comments for others when you're so upset, yourself. Amazing.

You are such an inspiration! Love the graph, and the great description of all your fantastic changes. Remember muscle weighs more, so you've actually lost lots more fat than indicated on the graph. Everyone sucks it in when taking a waist measurement!!! I suspect legs are a problem for lots of women, but don't the health gurus say it's better to carry weight low (pear shape) than around the waist (apple) 'cause then the organs aren't surrounded in fat?

Thanks, Ruby! Yeah, I'm actually pretty happy with the knowledge that I've lost fat, not muscle in this process :) And it's true they say it's better, healthwise, to be a pear - but man, for once I wish I had "great legs"! Oh well, I'll settle for decent at my age! (c'mon...decent!) I read once that if you have great legs, you'll probably always have them. Look at Liza Minelli. She carries a lot of weight around her middle, but those legs are still hot. Well...last I saw of them, anyway. So how are you doing?
