Long walk, 10 minute hard row #48. Had an awesome NSV last night, I’ve been wearing shorter shorts because it’s hot and this woman I see all the time walking her dogs saw me and said “holy sh*t, why can’t i have your legs?” It’s working, the muscle is back and it’s becoming obvious. This is what I want. Not skinny, strong. While I still can. Other good things, I was having some twinges in my upper back and neck from sitting too long, those are fading away most of the time. Posture and neck mobility are better. When I was just swimming and walking dogs, I was having some mobility issues doing things reaching up, never the inability, just uncomfortable doing things like taking off a tight shirt if my left arm went in a particular direction. Not a strength issue, more of a rotation issue. Also getting better. Tossing two pairs of shoes this morning, wore them out walking. I replaced the insides more than once, but at this point there are holes in the foam and they are slick.

Numbers: blob really down. Muscle really up. Yes. 🙌 I did get around to watching that video on adjusting the rower damper and have been working a bit harder the past two days even though the sessions are shorter. Hunger is better, eating a little bit more doesn’t seem to be having a negative effect. Trying keep the focus on protein, but carbs are delicious. 😋

Today, working on clearing the back deck. Seems that I’m going to have to have a section rebuilt, and I’m not confident enough in my construction abilities to take it on myself. Not happy, but it is what it is. Trying to decide if I want to do the demo (fun!) or have someone else do it. I like demo, so will probably do that once I have a path forward.

Some pics from last night’s walk. I am intrigued by those. Doggos at the park since it’s been a minute. Off to row early today. FS is not playing nice with photos today, so we’ll just go with these.

Honest question - there are a ton of whales off the coast and I want to go whale watching again. No one will go with me because it’s hot and expensive. Should i go by myself (on a whale watching boat) or is that foolish? The news last night said that they had a sighting of a pod of over 100 blue whales. I have a couple of days to decide. I have a love, but genuine fear of the open ocean, but the last one was so amazing. Mom is gone and so is BF. I have friends to tell when I’m going and when I should be back. I feel like I should just do it. I should mention that it’s expensive because you have to take a smaller boat 50 miles offshore, not the usual 10-20. If you want to feel your true insignificance in the world, it’s a small boat on the ocean.

Weekend rules, enjoy the day.

Long walk last night, just out of habit, wasn’t intentional, and the temperature was tolerable enough for the dogs due to a heavy marine layer hanging over my piece of the coast. I will never complain though, because that cloud keeps it temperate and I love it even though it gives me perpetual ringlets in my hair. learned to just roll with it.

10 minute hard row, #47. Blob up a notch, muscle down a smidge. All evens out. Going to try for a swim this afternoon because summer. Rocket launch was a fail on multiple levels. Weather here, technical issue with the booster, I think. Will need to read up on that after work. Going to focus on eating all the fruit that’s already in the house this weekend and not shop until Sunday. I have a ton of passion fruit from my neighbor’s vine. Definitely makes it easy to eat yogurt. Will try and think of some other creative uses.

Press on, press on.

Yesterday was just a good day overall. I started work early, so I had no issues walking away on a sunny afternoon and jumping into the pool before puppy class. Helps that the new goggles arrived earlier in the afternoon. Oh, what a difference not fighting leaky goggles makes. Just a good feeling swim and I got my heart rate up out of the first two zones. 899 strokes, 10.8 METs, did the work but it felt great.

Puppy class after, I had to handle all three of my dogs at once, and they are all making good progress when they aren’t trying to stir up trouble with one another.

Row #45 was ten minutes with a couple builds and a longer all-out. Halfway to 90 rows. I wish I could tally up the meters in this effort. I’m sure there’s something out there. Might look this weekend on the logbooks. It’s strange how this is relaxing in a completely different way than swimming. I count when I swim to clear my brain, rowing is more of an exertion but it’s also calming. Probably the whole repetition thing. I like fluidity of movement. I will say that I can tell the rowing has made me a better swimmer.

Everything up this morning, but not really worried. Early call, jumped on the scale and then the phone.

Costco has whey protein now, has anyone tried it? Particularly interested in the chocolate one. Because… chocolate.

Eerie sunset where the sun fell into the marine layer sitting off the coast.

Anyways, computer finished rebooting, back to work. Onwards.
