Chuck's sister & hubby (Melissa & Mike) are visiting from Atlanta this weekend. We've both done quite well staying on the paleo bandwagon this weekend. Last night we went out for 'Holiday Drinks with friends'. The first stop was The Caroline where we shared appetizers of Ahi Tuna, Crab cakes & diet coke. The next stop was Leaf & Vine where we didn't get anything. =) The timing of our arrival was perfect as we were able to get a table in the loft area of the bar. It's a quaint little seating area that is away from the bar.
This weekend has been heart wrenching. Melissa & Mike had been CrossFitting off and on throughout the past year. Melissa is a tri-athalon athlete and prefers it to CrossFit, but wanted to support Mike. Mike has a shoulder injury that his doctor has told him was due to poor form doing CrossFit. So they have decided not to do it anymore. We're heart broken. We loved having them visit & wod with us, and then wod at their box in Atlanta whenever we visited them. Equally disappointing is watching the food choices they make (all while complaining how this hurts, and that hurts - well, duh!).
There's 'whole grain' cereal on my kitchen counter, milk in the refrigerator, and cookies & candy hidden somewhere in the house and it makes me itch. I have no desire for any of it, well maybe the candy...... (homemade buckeyes! ack!!!!!!) It just bothers me that this is what they see as 'healthy'. Oh and Black Bean pasta ~ YUCK!!!! If there was a smiley face for gagging, I would insert it here.
I've had some interesting observations during this challenge. I had a friend all me obsessive (whatever! Enjoy sitting in a wheel chair in 20 years while I'm running, jumping and playing with my grandkids.) and last night at about midnight I mentioned wanting a piece of bacon and was called addicted. Why yes, I am addicted. Addicted to sugar, just like the person who accused me of this. Only I have chosen to do something about it.
This weekend has been challenging, but I'm winning. Yeah me!! Thanks for letting me vent. =)
