Oh the holidays. When my stomach turns into a lumpy ball of lard, my jeans no longer fit, and any thoughts and dreams of someday losing weight go through the window.

I have my mom partially to thank for buying me like 5 lbs. of candy to send home with me. And the giant bag of homemade sugar cookies I have been eating for every meal. I dieted and behaved myself food-wise until December 24th and it has been all downhill from there.

To get myself back on track, I am cheating and bought some Alli. I am also going to get some other diet pills. I am working out on my treadmill. I have refused to go to the grocery store period. I will repent for my sins and pay dearly for having a joyful holiday.

I seriously cannot even look at myself. I look aweful. It all went to my stomach and I look pregnant. Time to get back on the diet train. What am I supposed to do with all of that candy? Throw it away? I hate wasting things!!!!

A week of eating nothing but fresh, raw fruits and veggies and homemade soup? Sure, why not!

Turns out to be a really good idea. I spent $20 bucks at Aldi for fresh fruits and veggies:

*Fresh Pineapple
*Carrots
*Apples
*Celery
*Broccoli
*Frozen Strawberries and Mixed Berries for smoothies
*Cabbage
*Clementines

I first made a chicken noodle soup with fresh veggies, fat free broth, one chicken breast, a few egg noodles, and the usual carrots and celery. Talk about YUM!!!!!!!

Later in the week, I made Cabbage Soup. I cooked carrots, broccoli, celery, and cabbage in a broth of V-8 juice and water. The crowning glory? A can of Rotel- mixed peppers and diced tomatoes work wonders for flavor on ANYTHING. This soup turned out spicy and yummy and very low cal!

My motto this week has been "If you feel even the slightest bit hungry, eat another fresh fruit of vegetable." So I have not went hungry for even a fleeing moment in time all week long. As I figure it, a Clementine has only 25 calories. I would have to eat something like 10 of them to equal the calories in one candy bar so might as well indulge!!!!!

I noticed that in the past when dieting, I start to panic when I get hungry and start to freak out about when I am going to eat next! Anything! Eat! Must eat! Eating nothing but fresh fruits and veggies means that I eat all the time and never get a chance to feel soo hungry that I might reach for a candy bar quick fix. Try it! It helps!

Also, my cravings for junk food have pretty much disappeared after a week of eating the good stuff. I am going to continue to eat nothing but fruits and veggies and soup because so far, this has been the easiest and tastiest diet I have even been on.

Oh, and the best part?!
I have lost 3 pounds in less than a week!!! Not only that, but my pants are noticeably looser, especially on the thighs and waist. Looking in the mirror, I can see my tummy actually shrinking.... I measured my waist just to see if it was true, and I have lost an inch on my waist already!

FRUITS AND VEGGIES ROCK!!!!!!

I have felt like hell lately. Seasonal depression has kicked in full swing and I feel miserable. I eat all the time. I have no energy. I feel as if I CAN'T leave the house. I cry when I get dressed cause I can't deal with how I look. Sometimes, I can't leave the house cause everything I try to wear makes me look like some sort of bloated whale. All I can think is "I hope I survive another winter without killing myself."

I get insurance in January so maybe I can get on Wellbutrin or something so I can get rid of this terrible thing that happens every year. I cannot continue a diet and exercise plan when I only get out of bed to eat and only get dressed and leave the house to go to my job. I am fat and miserable and gaining weight pretty rapidly. What, like 7 lbs. in 2 or 3 weeks? And my body looks terrible. I can see exactly where the fat has gone. My tummy has handles again and I wonder if I am pregnant some days. My jeans feel soo tight against my thighs that I worry they might rip.

When my boyfriend says I look just fine and I am beautiful, I want to punch him in his face.

I fasted on Saturday for 24 hours and broke the fast with fresh fruit. Fasting for even a day made me realize you don't have to eat all the time. You survive just fine without and nothing terrible happens to you if you go hungry. This helped me overcome my fear of hunger.

Sunday, I ate tuna and fruits and veggies, but gave in and had a chocolate milkshake with my boyfriend in the evening. BIG MISTAKE! It triggered a terrible migraine within 15 minutes of eating it. I hope I can remember this next time I am tempted to have a milkshake.

I have been drinking lots of peppermint tea to help with nerves. To help curve hunger, I have been drinking water with lots of fresh squeezed lemon juice. This usually does the trick.

I have also been eating little bits every 2 or 3 hours so that I don't get too hungry and eat everything in the house!!! And I carry around Fiber One bars so that I can eat half if I am getting crazy hungry in between meals.

Eating fresh has renewed my love for fruits and veggies and lemon has become my new friend!!! Fresh cooked spinach with fresh lemon juice on top is AMAZING and making my mouth water as we speak. And at only 20 calories per serving, why not eat some spinach? Soo good!

For snacks, I love fresh strawberries, raw almonds, or half of a Fiber One bar. I try to stay away from anything processed, but am yet to get rid of my love for chocolate. I have still lost weight, even with eating chocolate everyday. Strange but true!

I have found that if I am really, really hungry, the best thing for that is to eat some fish. The protein makes me feel full for hours afterwards, and I know the Omega-3's are doing wonders for my body.

I try to think I am developing a more healthy relationship with food, but when you are dieting, you tend to think about food non-stop. At least I can say I am learning lots first hand about nutrition.
