I am still tracking my food on MOST days. I am feeling good and wearing size 36" waist!

I am 41 years old and have learned how to manage my weight through training in the service. I was taught to exercise three times a week, eat three meals without snacking each day, and write the food I ate in a journal. That worked well when they were cooking for me and the kitchen was not open all night. Once I got out I gained 120lbs in nine months, suffered the onset of type two diabetes, and failed to follow the regimen that worked for eleven years.
Today that has changed with the help of Fatsecret and my Droid. I plan what I am going to eat and how much I am going to exercise each day while I eat breakfast. Failing that, I check out the foods available for the place I am eating and choose wisely.
Tracking the food and seeing the calories with the nutrition info is powerful! So far, this has the most promise to work for me. I am very happy to have this tool.

My wife and I went to lunch at a local cafe chain. It looked like the contry fried steak was low enough that I could handle it. I ordered it, took one bite and did not like it one bit! I have not eaten fatty foods much over the past month or two and that was a real eye opener. Luckily my wife only ate half of her sandwich so I ate the other half keeping my calories lower and the fat content very low.

The first week is over! I love tracking my food with my phone and this site. It has really helped me realize how much fuel I was consuming. I have gone from a 4500 calorie day to average 1900 calories. What a difference. The best news is I am losing weight without struggling to do so.
Who would have thought getting healthy was just a matter of choice?
