Uggghhh I haven't even been on here in the past few days ... haven't logged my food either ...

My weekend started out great ... had great evening with friends Friday and got to watch my best friend get engaged. Saturday was good ... my son had a basketball tournament that we went to for the afternoon ....

And then Sunday ... as I was trying to catch up on laundry ... My main drain from the house clogged and pipes froze ... Water backed up all thru the basement and we spent the entire day cleaning the disaster ... and had the drain snaked and cleared. Luckily we realized it was happening and I was able to get everything off the floor and up onto shelves so we didn't have ruined stuff. Thank goodness for that. The kids keep all of their sports gear down there and we keep all of our shoes and stuff down there and I seriously would have cried if everything would have gotten wet with that nasty water and ruined. I have never had a problem before and my basement is totally dry , doesn't leak or anything ... What a horrible ordeal. Getting all my laundry done today since that obviously didn't get accomplished yesterday and I am gonna go re-scrub the whole basement one more time with bleach water just to make sure it is all clean. Uggghhh I hope I never have anything like this happen again.

so after cleaning and dealing with that crap all day ... I ordered pizza for the kids and YES I ATE SOME. And I don't really feel all that guilty about it because it was the only food I ate all day. Moving forward and back on track for today ...

Got my shopping done for our Valetines day dinner .... Yummmm I really cant wait ... Steak and crab legs ... Although it wont be all that romantic or relaxing because we are having this dinner with the kids ... Cant bring myself to eat something so wonderful and not share it with them because the boys LOVE crab legs ... And my cute little daughter thinks valentines day is this HUGE holiday , she was upset that she had to go to school today... shes acting like its christmas LOL . So I got the kids cute little gift bags with candy and fun stuff . Should be fun. And then we get to have an evening out with friends and I get to see one of my best friends SURPRISE proposal that will be happening tonight as we are all out. Im really excited for her.

Off to go work out ( twice as hard as usual to redeem myself for the V day dinner ahead of time ) !!! Seems like a good plan . I hope you all have a great valentines day : )


OK quick edit : I totally forgot to mention that I made " Amazing Flourless Brownies " as a special dessert treat also ... And it tastes really good ( I snuck one little bite just to make sure it was good ) !

Just got home from a really nice dinner out with my boyfriend. We went to Ruby Tuesdays ( my pick ) and I must say I was very impressed. We will surely be going back in the future. We both had healthy meals and the prices were reasonable too. They have certain meals in the menu that are lighter and have the calorie count listed and everything. I thought that was great , being able to eat out and not just guess at what I was eating

I had the chicken fresca with roasted spaghetti squash and a salad with balsamic vinegarette. He had cajun tilapia with mango salsa and rice pilaf with steamed broccoli.

Tomorrow I am cooking his favorite ... New york strip steak and crab legs ... But we are gonna share a steak and Im not gonna make a ton of crab legs ( just enough to be a real treat ). Planning on a nice veggie on the side and salads. So that shouldnt be toooo terribly bad for a special occasion meal.

And then we are going out with a large group of friends for a few drinks, karaoke and dancing.( And this is rare , we never go out ) One of my best friends has no idea but her boyfriend is planning on proposing in the middle of the evening with all of us there. I think its so sweet. She has been hoping for this for a long time and we have talked lately and she has NO idea. He is planning on singing her a song she loves at karaoke and then getting down on one knee in the middle of it and popping the question. Cant wait : ) gonna be a great night.

After my complete freakout today and some major soul searching I decide that I am NOT doing atkins ... not now , not ever. I was doing really good since I started this new healthy eating plan in beginning of january. I was not feeling deprived , I wasnt craving things and I was happy. I have lost 14 pounds in one month without atkins so why I got it in my head that I needed to get even more strict is beyond me. I tend to get a bit obsessive. I know that atkins works wonders for some people, I just dont think it is for me. I have been stressed , obsessively trialing foods in the counter before deciding what I may or may not eat so that I dont go over the 20 net carbs ... Its too much. This is not something I can sustain for a lifestyle. I still plan to eat low carb just not that low. I want to be able to cook with and for my family. I dont want to have to eat a seperate meal from them. I want us all to eat healthier.

For me , this weight loss is a battle , one I have fought and lost many times. But I will keep fighting, I will not quit on myself. I will continue to educate myself, I will continue with trial and error and I will learn what my body needs to lose weight and sustain it for my life.

I think I just got crazed , we started the weight challenge at work and everyones talking about this diet and that diet. Who is doing atkins ? Who is doing shakeology ? Dont eat any carbs , eat more protein , eat more fat , do this dont do that .Try this diet , try that diet . Well damn it ... I am putting my foot down. I dont need to name my damn diet , I am NOT on a diet. I am trying to change my whole lifestyle. I will succeed. If I only lose 1-2 pounds a week and this battle takes me over a year , so be it.

Sorry for my rant ... Just needed to get that out.
