Just a quick recap of Whole30 so far. I'm on day 5 today. It's 8:39AM and today has definitely been the day that I've had the most issues with it so far.

Day 1-I had some headaches but no real hunger or any other symptoms.
Day 2 was fine with nothing weird going on.
Day 3 I had some nausea whenever I was hungry.
Day 4 I had no hunger whatsoever all day long but made myself eat on a regular basis just to get a healthy number of calories into my body and had some significant belly bloating.

Day 5 (today) is pretty bad so far. I was wide awake before my alarm so I was expecting a pretty great day. I woke up really hungry and ate a large (for me) breakfast. About 2 hours later I started to get dizzy/light-headed so once I got to work I ate about 2 servings of prunes just in case it's because of low blood sugar. However, it might just be me detoxing off of diet soda/artificial sweetener. I say this because I had a fairly large Diet Coke AND coffee with Splenda habit before this. I had wicked dreams last night about drinking Diet Coke last night that were so vivid that I woke up mad at myself. I have a meeting from 10-12 this morning so I'm going to try and sit for a while and get my bearings for a bit before heading over. I'm just drinking lots of water just in case there is a dehydration factor as well.

I hope that tomorrow is a good day because I'm supposed to get a chance to spend some time with someone I'm interested in and go bowling and spend some time outside in the sun (it's been raining for TWO WHOLE WEEKS here).

I've had a super interesting few weeks. I've had a lot of weird aches and pains, rashes, hives, and then, the last straw that caused me to make an MD appt, the tips of my fingers kept turning white and going numb. So I went to a new doctor last Friday and they ran some bloodwork.

Basically, after the results were in, what she said was that I'm one of the lucky women who, while still in my twenties, get to deal with chronic inflammation. She said the finger numbness and frigid hands and feet were caused by Raynaud's, the testing for general inflammation was well beyond the normal range, and the RA Factor and ANA readings were bordering abnormal. She also told me that I have left trochanteric bursitis, which is what has been causing my fairly intense hip pain.

After talking about what I could do to reduce inflammation and hip pain, she simply said that losing weight wouldn't hurt (but she didn't give any suggestions on how to go about doing this, like low carb, VLCD, low fat, etc.). She also wrote me a RX for PT for the bursitis, which I'm waiting for my insurance company to let me know how much that'll cost me after all is said and done.

So I went home and looked up both conditions. I was able to find a bunch of Youtube videos and instructional pictograms online showing what exercises to do to improve the bursitis. If insurance doesn't cover most of the PT, which I double it will, I may just stick to at home exercises to see if it will improve. I also found that a Paleo-style diet can reduce inflammation. So, I'm working on getting all of my healthy-but-not-healthy-for-me-right-now foods out of the house and then I'll start eating a clean, organic, Paleo-styled diet (Whole30-inspired, actually) to see if I have any improvements.

I've also stepped down my workouts, mostly because when you already hurt, are itchy, and can't feel your hands the gym doesn't seem to be a priority. I'm going to check out less intense options, like yoga or pilates, that might help reduce stress more effectively in addition to lengthening and strengthening my muscles.

At this point in my journey, I'm seeing that changing my lifestyle is actually the only way that I MIGHT be able to prevent disability without serious medical intervention. Hopefully, once everything gets under control inflammation-wise, I'll also start losing some weight.

Slow and steady wins the race, right?! I wasn't going to weigh this morning just because I was less than strict this weekend. Plus it's that TOM.

I picked up a second job working a few hours a night 3 days a week for some extra cash to put towards my student loans, so I've been extra busy. By the time I get to go home I'm starving and have stopped through a drive thru a time or two. Also, this weekend was extra busy because I've had to replace some clothes that I've either worn out or are too big now. And since I'm still a weird in between size that took two days and three stores. MSP also hosted the Lululemon warehouse sale and I bought a few pieces to sell online to spread the deal around. Then I had to take pictures and post everything online.

I did go to the gym everyday though. My activity is the one thing I've been most dedicated too so far. I do think I've been losing every week but that my scale is too hard to read (analog) to pick up a .2 or .5 loss. I think some of the extra cash I'm making might get put towards a new scale.
