The Journey into maintenance...
Yay, one week in and I can report that the journey into maintenance appears to be going quite successfully so far! This week has really just been total trial and error, as I didn't purposely choose how many points to eat. However, still recording my WW daily target points, the week average breaks down to 32 US WW points (26 UK WW points). The scales are only up 0.3lbs from last Saturday to 122.2lbs today. So considering this was just total guesswork and I haven't been quite so vigilant about what I've been eating, I don't think I've done too badly. :o) I'm still thinking that maintaining around 126lbs with further toning, will be ok for me. Although if the scales gain... I want it to be muscle NOT fat, so I need to get working on that!
Exercise...
Hmm... this brings me onto exercise. Must confess that I have been rather lazy again this week, which isn't good as I know I should be focusing on building more muscle. At this point in the game, I should know better, as I've read so much about the importance of exercise while losing weight. Not only does it help burn calories, but also helps guard against losing muscle, while we lose fat.
I know I must get back into a regular routine of doing more strength training... so this coming week, I'm going to try for every other day. I've also just ordered a couple of gym ball workouts at www.play.com, so hopefully they will be here shortly. I've also been reading about core stability and how it can help with stabilising and supporting both the spine and pelvis. So with the problems I've had in the past with my pelvis going out of alignment and more recently my coccyx injury -- I'm hoping that core stabiity exercises will help strengthen all these muscles and ligaments.
This week in general...
Hubby very kindly woke me up on Tuesday at 06.00 when he finally appeared home. :o) I had to go to work that day, but took the day off on Wednesday... so we made the most of it while the kids were at school and went out at lunch time and had a lovely meal.
Poor hubby has had some "mystery" lurgies since arriving home. It started off as a sore throat, but then he developed itchy spots! Hmm... the doctor tried telling him that it was probably an allergy? I'm not convinced though, as I would have thought they would have gone by now! So the mystery continues as to what they are... he's still itching, poor thing... so hopefully they'll go away soon!
Well, it's been another busy week work wise, although thankfully quietened down a little towards the end of the week. Needless to say though I'm so glad it's the weekend! Sadly were back to the dull old dreary weather here again today though... it's raining, feeling cold, damp and miserable, so we haven't done very much bar laze around. I guess lazy sometimes can be a nice way to relax.
Anyway's enough waffles from me... hope you've all been having a great week and have a really nice weekend. :o)

Weighing in today for the last day of the challenge that I've been taking part in... 121.6lbs, but my
intention
now is to do
NO MORE LOSING!
Yikes, the journey to maintenance begins... well, actually maybe to HIKE? As I try to build more muscle again, it's probably not going to do me any harm to put back on a few lbs! But as always I will keep evaluating every step of the way.
I can't deny that the idea of maintenance doesn't scare the heck outta me and is going to be a much harder task than losing. But as I always tell others...
SELF-BELIEF... we CAN do this...
I just might need a few little reminders along the way. ;o)
Well, I've had a really busy day at work... I'm only meant to work "part-time", but landed up doing a full day the fact we were short staffed. At least the day flew by and YAY, my hubby will be home again tomorrow. I believe they were getting back in the UK around midnight... so I'm half-hoping I might get a phone call shortly to let me know what's happening!? I'm still hoping that they are not going to travel overnight. As nice as it would be to see him tomorrow morning before I go to work, I'd much rather they stayed in London tonight and came back tomorrow.
Can't wait to see him though and really looking forward to having Wednesday off work to spend some time with him. At least working "extra" today also means I've earned some more "flexi-time" off. So will be good to save for another day when he's off again. :o)
Well, I hope that you all had a great weekend and here's to another great week of "losing" right? So you all keep up that healthy eating and
DON'T
use my example of bad eating today! Oops... yes, I totally went off track and ate chocolate and birthday cake, so the scales are probably not going to take kindly to that tomorrow! There's no doubt I need to up calories to maintain... but with healthy foods... NOT chocolate!!! So the experimentation begins to try and find what will work for me. I will keep you posted. ;o)

Well, I'm a little bit surprised that the scales haven't gone on a hike for my usual Saturday weigh-in. Aunt Flo has been residing since Thursday... seemingly without much baggage for a change! So still up slightly from last Saturday to 121.9... but only 0.4lbs, so considering I think I'm very lucky!
Interestingly, once my challenge is over on Monday, I am considering taking my weight back up slightly to stay around 123-126lbs, then as I try and tone further... re-evaluate what should be my maintenance goal. I know it probably seems madness to actually WANT to gain, after I've put in all this effort to lose! But I'm still very conscious of the fact that I really don't want to get any thinner in the face or arms and these recent dropped 5lbs are making me think this is getting "borderline"!
For me my weight goal is not important anymore and I think many of us put far too much emphasis on wanting to be a certain weight or certain size. What counts more I think is how we look, both to ourselves and others.
It's been another very busy week at work... having been away from that office for a year, I'd forgotten how hectic it could be! But if nothing else it makes the week fly... although I'm not so sure I like the time flying by so quickly! The plus side is that hubby will be home on Tuesday... YAY, I just can't wait to see him at the moment. 8 days seems nothing... but it's honestly felt like an age!!! I know the boys will also be very pleased to see him... as Jordan especially finds it difficult to adapt when daddy goes away.
Grahh, I could have throttled Jordan (age 9) earlier as I discovered he'd pulled out some little pieces of plastic that are part of the dial on our washing machine! This appears to have been done out of anger on Friday when I wouldn't let him go over the field with our eldest two. We had temper tantrum galore... tears for about half an hour. Lol, there's no doubt I felt like climbing walls, but somehow managed to keep calm.
There's also been a definite change with my 15 year old "trying" I think to play "dad". He's just been like a little tornado causing havoc in the house trying to weild his dominance over everyone. He tries to do it often enough as it is... but oh boy, has definitely stretched me to the outer limits this week! I can't wait for the calm to resume shortly and get back to some normality!
Thank you for all your kind comments and views previously. There's no doubt that teenagers can be difficult to handle. Lol, I remember being told that it got easier as they got older... hmm, wrong!! There are just different challenges to overcome.
Well, I hope that you've all been having a great week and are having a nice weekend too. Keep with that nice healthy eating and when you feel like going off track... just keep focusing on where you want to go. Back UP or DOWN? Down definitely feels better... so keep it going! ;o)

After this weeks earlier hike, the scales are relenting back to 122.2lbs. Still, up a little bit from last Saturday, but I really don't mind, as to be honest I'm more than happy to hover around 126lbs.
I've been trying to get back into doing some exercise... so much harder when you get out of the swing of things, so don't stop! Alas, I didn't have much choice when my coccyx started niggling back in mid-August. I did say I'd explain to those who missed the original saga... so here goes!
Well, I'm still not sure exactly what I did... as all started after I'd been working out on my elliptical trainer one evening. Hmm... been a pain in the butt since... on and off! It's ok some days, but then niggles and just aches others. I never did go see a doctor... but know that back in 1995 when I had to have an x-ray on my spine and neck, I was told that I have a deformity in the bottom of my spine. It's never given problems before... but pregnant with my 3rd son, all my ligaments softened (too much!) and I landed up what they call "dysfunctional pelvis"... (I've just googled what I think is the proper name for this
symphysis pubis dysfunction
). Anyways, The whole thing moved if I slept on my side overnight and quite literally crunched in the morning, as the bones moved back into place!! Yes, ouch... it was so painful that couldn't bear going through that ordeal every day... so I landed up sleeping sat on our sofa for 3 months! During my 2nd pregnancy I had to have physiotherapy, as during that pregnancy the right side of my back (sacro iliac joint) kept going out of alignment. So I think it's likely that all these things are inter-related and I probably now have a weakness there. I will keep a close eye though, as it seems to have not have been too bad this week!
Today has been Liam's 12th birthday... so I have been a bit naughty today and had ice cream AND birthday cake. I was quite chuffed at finding a "light" version of Wall's Soft Scoop Vanilla Ice Cream though and at about 3 UK points for 90g (100ml) I didn't think that was bad. Jordan chose a Scooby-Doo cake for Liam, because it was bigger than the Dr Who one -- although both were the same price!! I always think it's quite funny how kids chose things by size.
Grahh, teenagers... anyone like a 15 year old lovable rogue? Oh boy, I can tell dad's still away as he's been really trying it on the last couple of days! Thankfully, the week has been flying by as I've been really busy at work. Roll on next Tuesday though, when my hubby will be home again. I'm looking forward to the weekend though... yay, just one more day!
So have a great rest of your week and keep up that healthy eating! ;o)
