I haven't been keeping very good records of my diet and exercise, but its because I've gotten into a pretty regular pattern now of eating what I know will work out to around my 1800 calorie mark, and have been going to the gym four days per week without exception.
Initially I felt a lot of anxiety about not recording my meals, but I think I'll try continuing without the counting for a while longer. I think I may have been misusing counting, since if I knew I had 700Kcal remaining, I'd spend it on something. Without the counting, I stay sort of generally vigilant with everything I eat, and I think I will be more apt to try more of the foods that Paige has suggested, rather than concentrating on what I might be able to fit in.
The good news is that the loss has picked back up as the amount of circuit training has increased; I guess this is the lean mass improvement that Jake predicted. I just didn't think it would happen this quickly. As long as the loss continues, I won't sweat the counting.
Other news of interest, I got a watch-style heart rate monitor, since the handle sensors on the gym equipment in my building malfunction predictably every time I start to sweat hard, when I need them both. The new monitor requires that the sensors be wet to work, so sweatiness will not be a problem. Also I got a good pair of running shoes that should help with pronation, which is pretty severe in both my ankles. I think a combination of the shoes and some practice will help with that. I expect that having stronger ankles will be a good thing in general.

tried the "fat burner" program on the elliptical today, for 45 minutes, but I think I may have misprogrammed the machine. When the machine asks for target heart rate, I think I was supposed to enter the 220 - Age number (184). I guessed at 160, and wound up keeping my rate at 156, which is roughly 84% of mhr. I guess thats alright.
