Believe it or not, this is not my photograph, but one of my beloved dog Mitzi. And of course my name is not Glaun, but Phil and my photo is somewhere else on my Fatsecret page. The name Glaun is my computer Gaming name. For those of you who game, I am most fond of MMRPG games and usually play them multi boxed.

I have been retired for 15 years now. My last job (if you want to call it that, really it was a 5 year extended vacation) was as a ski instructor in Park City UT. I met my current bride there and now live in Carefree AZ. Yes, the life style here is all in the name of our town.

I have three adult children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

My wife and I live by ourselves (plus critters) and love to travel. I have lived in several countries around the world and have traveled a lot. My primary loves in life are travel, Skiing, Scuba, and Flying. When forced to work, my primary vocation was law.

For 20 years, I was very lean and worked out daily at the gym. After I married this last time I did the typical retired thing, ate, slept and sat in my chair. I put on 30 pounds and got into terrible physical shape.

A couple of years ago we went to Kathmandu, Nepal to climb the Hillary trail part way up to Everest base camp. That almost did me in. I then realized how bad a shape I was in. My wife came to me and said she was concerned about the shape I was in. So she made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Get back to the weight and shape I was in when we first met and she would take me to Palau for a week of diving.

That is when I joined FS. As you can see, it has been slow and steady for me. 1/2 to 1 pound a week. I figure with my new diet and exercise program I will reach my goal of 193 lbs by December, 2013. (I am 74 inches tall)

So there you have it. I am glad to be in the company of so many who have the same goals as I. Good luck to us and as I read somewhere, "God bless us, everyone".

Older Yet Feeling I can finally lose the weight no longer how long it takes!
"I can finally lose the weight no longer how long it takes!"
When I started FS I really gave myself false hopes. I thought I could reach my goal in six months, and when I reached it I could go back to "normal eating and normal portions." Neither are true. It is taking far longer than I had planned on, and I never can go back to eating the foods and portions I used to.
I thought about quitting six months into the FS program. Yet, it was my friends comment's that kept me here and on the straight and narrow path of overeating recovery. I could not done what I have without the advice, wisdom and friendship of the FS gang.
You sound like you are ready for the long haul, MomjjjaLou. Stick with the winners here and good luck

Quick add calories
jwill77nc2 is correct. However, I found a clumsy work around. It is for calorie counting and not keeping track of nutritional values. Follow jwill77nc2 advice to get to the "Add new food". Enter a name, such as "100 Calories". Skip the nutritional values. Then use this entry to add 100 calories to any meal. Use the amount entry to add or subtract calories.
As I said, clumsy yes, but it should work.

Corifeo is spot on. Also, you need to find your Recommended Daily Intake (RDI). Set you RDI minus the 500 calories Corifeo mentions and you will lose weight gradually, but surely. You can set your RDI - Go to >My Fat Secret>My Diet>Setup RDI.
Good luck.

My sugar addiction was so bad that I used to hide candy, pastries etc. around the house so they wouldn't be traced to me. And what's worse, I lived alone.
I found that if I did eat refined sugar, that by following it up with some pure orange or apple juice, or by eating a small bit of raw fruit I could quell the sugar cravings.
Eventually, I was able to wean myself off refined sugars, but it was hard and I have to be ever vigilant against downing more.

Don't know bout them skinny legs mummy, but the rest of him looks mighty powerful. In this case I would rather take a handshake than a friendly hug.
