My difficulty is eating enough calories to maintain my ideal weight, as well as disciplining myself to exercise, developing the habit of a daily physical routine. Winter is a difficult time, making it more of a challenge to start and maintain daily habits. I still need to find the determination to be fit and healthy. All the best to everyone as a new year approaches!!

Again, I'm not so focused on my weight as I am focused on healthy eating and strength training. I believe that as I focus on these two things, (as well as minding calories in vs. calories expended) I will achieve my goals. When this challenge is finished, I'd like to continue challenging myself in other areas. As for eating breakfast, I have not been consistent.

From Mark Lauren's book "You Are Your Own Gym: The Bible of Bodyweight Exercises" I read, "Fat loss can only be achieved in all areas of your body at once, and it can only be achieved by burning more calories than you ingest, and you burn calories most effectively by building muscle." He also states, "So how do you lose love handles, flabby glutes, or a soft tummy?
Eat well and build muscle through strength training
." Since I'm 48 yrs. old with years of neglecting fitness and nutrition, I'm starting gradually with basic stretching, just to get the muscles used to working again. I'll then be moving onto using Mark's book and his 10 week strength training programs to build muscle. Also, I have never counted calories or watched what I eat, so this too will take time to get into the habit of doing. I recommend Mark's book which can be purchased as a paperback or pdf at Amazon. In fact, I found this site from a link on Mark's page.

I started here with a weight of 165 lbs (close guess, must weigh myself), and a goal to achieve 165 lbs. On the surface, it looks like I reached my goal, however, all through high school I was 135 lbs., no muscle. I have excess weight on my belly, so it is my goal to take the weight off there and develop muscle strength and tone, thereby maintaining the same weight.
edit:
I have no strength and no energy, and I have light, short sleeps at night, needing to nap up to twice daily. I have poor eating habits, not caring about what foods I eat. Other than weight on my stomach, I have little fat. Point blank, I am unhealthy and run down. A person does not have to be on the heavy side to be unhealthy, I need to diet (watch what I eat) and get fit as much as the next person. I suffer the results of years of physical neglect. This is about to change, I'm not in a hurry, just gradual and steady progress, allowing room to fall down and to get back up, I am here for the long haul, I am here to develop good, consistent, daily, healthy habits that will last until my final day!

Hmm, second day as a member and I've joined two challenges, that should do it for now. Weigh in won't be easy since I don't have a scale to step onto :P, though my goals are to get active with bodyweight exercises and to eat nutritional meals.
