MUSCLE VERSUS FAT
I have to decide to make a serious choice. I gained another pound. I lost some fat, I am retaining another pound of water. I gained almost two pounds of muscle. I cringe every time the scale goes up, but I always ask about muscle gain or loss. The point I am trying to make is; I can't have muscle and lose weight. I have to decide and be happy with the scale regardless of what it says.

Actually, in some areas I have to lose weight in order to see the muscle gain (arms, stomach) but I sometimes feel like a hamster on a wheel. In my head I'm like, "I want muscles (singing in my best Olivia Newton John voice)," and then I gain weight when step on the scale and go into panic mode. Gee whiz.
162.2 lb Lost so far: 28.3 lb.    Still to go: 7.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 1.0 lb a week

Gz9gjg- It is. I think I will skip the scale and go for the muscle. I will take Maxie4's suggestion and measure myself.

Here's another perspective. If you're gaining muscle faster than you are losing fat, the scale will naturally go up. However, muscle burns more fat than fat does, so it will eventually catch up and the fat will start burning off again. Plus, muscle is denser than fat, so you lose inches and get smaller even tho the scale may not reflect that. I'd go for muscle.

I hear you. I think the best is just to love what you got and perfect it. To me, you are on the right track. Congrats to you and your BFF- the scale!

it's ok! The thing is, if you are gaining muscle - the weight will soon follow in spades. that muscle burns calories like a champ!
