Hi there - well i was binge eating low carb food again last night. It's purely psychological. I didn't eat my 3:30 dinner b/c I wasn't hungry. I hadn't overeaten or anything during the day, I just wasn't in the mood to stop working and go eat.

At 9 am I had eggs and a piece of sausage. At 2pm I had cucumber slices.

Then I got home at about 6:30 and decided I was starving. Well, ya know, I think I am full of baloney. First off, I am not starving. Second, there is nothing wrong with extending my fast from 2 pm. That is only 2 hours more than I normally would fast.

I better stop with the nonsense right now b/c I am treading dangerously. The truth is all day I wanted potato chips. I could imagine eating them, the whole bag, biting into the crunchy goodness. I could feel all of my stress slipping away.

Yeah, that's what it is like for a binge eater. Our minds will do anything to get us to "fix" on our favorite foods. So I thought well at least I am not binge eating on chips - I will just eat 5 cheese sticks and a bunch of those low carb cakes. NOT acceptable. That behavior is still a binge, which is exactly the behavior I am trying to change.

There is always something that will bother you and make you want to binge. It is going to be like that forever - it's called LIFE. You got to put your foot down and say "I don't deal with life this way (binging) any more. I feel my emotions, I recognize them, and they will pass". Eventually your brain will develop new healthy responses and the binging urge will be less. But it takes time and you have to stay strong and WANT it.

I try to be honest with this self-assessment b/c I know the binge eating problem, I have dealt with it for 30 years, and maybe I can encourage anyone else out there with the same issue.
Thanks buddies!

Sometimes I get so hungry I want to punch things. 🙂 I have to deal with hormonal fluctuations that cause me to be more hungry and more angry on occasion. It's not exactly like binge eating, but I can relate to that uncontrollable feeling. It's our own personal hurdles. I made zucchini slices, dehydrated in the oven for my chip craving. I wish you the best of luck continuing to fight those urges. It sounds like you have come really far, just understanding that it's a psychological pattern. Thanks for sharing!

Oh that's a good idea for a chip. I will have to try that!

You're doing exactly that! Though I've had no medical diagnosis, I've caught myself bingeing and work every day to prevent it from happening ever again. Thanks for sharing your struggles.

Thanks for your courage in sharing this - it is amazing how we can talk ourselves into old habits by justifying the source of the food. I have to keep a regimented eating schedule to try and avoid the "old friends" that lead to binging. I wish you well on your journey.

Yep, when I want chips (or sweets) I usually eat a little pink salt. You would be amazed how this helps. Also take some cheddar cheese and cut into 1 inch squares Place on parchment paper and top with your favorite seasoning (or just salt) Microwave to melt (time varies with MWs) let cool and you have - - CRUNCHY CHEESE CRACKERS - al low carb!

Thank you for the support and the suggestions. I will get some pink salt! And zucchini and cheddar cheese to make some chips!

Two suggestions I love to test if you are hungry: Drink a glass of water, and wait 15 min, if you are still hungry eat. 2nd, if you are hungry enough to eat a hard boiled egg, then you are hungry (or the equivalent to a HBE, they are good but usually eaten with something)
Bless you as you have blessed us!

You are so right. I binge also but working on it. I have found that if I can do something to keep my mind and hands busy I do much better. So hands and mind try to stay busy

Wow, I started reading your post and thought “that’s me.” That was definitely a realization as to why I eat the way I do.

Ok, maybe its the crunch you need, try baby carrots or pickles, low cal-low carb, definitely don't skip meals--it's fuel not food, you need fuel to get to the next stop. Good luck.

I'm a chip aholic myself... I weigh out my hot pork rinds and crunch on them but if I don't weigh them out I will devour the entire bag...lol:)

I just wanted to send love and hugs! It is so tough. I have been doing pretty good for about 3 weeks but I'm getting tired of all the "piles" of meat and veggie meals. I'm trying to figure out how to find a good medium because I'm afraid I won't stick to this lifestyle change, long run.

Half the fight is realizing the problem! Give yourself a gold star for that!

Recent research have totally debunked that salt is bad. The opposite is true. You body need a lot of salt when going near zero carbs. A simple way to tweak this is adding a bit of sea salt or similar to your water, or any other way you see fit.

Once you eat the correct foods you will never look back because all the sugars and saturated fats that you were consuming in the foods you should not eat will not be there.
