Well, I'm getting there...only 28 more pounds to go! I'm so excited to get below 170 again. It's been about 3.5 weeks on Atkins, and I really notice a big difference in how I feel. My heartburn is gone, my hunger is practically gone, and I'm eating for sustenance rather than for boredom, stress or cravings. I feel like I finally have the dedication to stick to something.
173.0 lb Lost so far: 6.0 lb.    Still to go: 28.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Great job so far!! It has been my experience that Atkins is the type of plan that one can adopt for life. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the encouragement! I've done Atkins here and there over the past 6 years or so, but don't usually stick with it for long, so 3.5 weeks is an accomplishment for me. As far as a life-long plan, I'm planning on sticking with the lower carb, lower-GI foods and eating less fat and more fruits and veggies.

Make sure that you get plenty of monounsaturated fats (MUFAs) as they have been proven to help keep weight down. This includes items like olives & olive oil, nuts & seeds, avocadoes, and yes, even chocolate! Our bodies need some fats and this has been proven in a number of studies. Read the chapters on maintenance in the Atkins book and I think you will find that the type of diet you are considering is much like the maintenance phase.

Good for you! I'm on South Beach and notice the same changes. I have NO heartburn, and I was having daily bouts with it. I'm not binge eating, and even have no desire to have sweets when people around me eat them. I'm really encouraged to think that this might be the answer. I'm so bad about writing down what I eat though. How are you doing with that?

Not very good with the writing things down part at all. I think I should though, as I appeared to have plateaued. I think I need to keep more careful track of what I'm eating than I have been.
