Do yourself a huge favour and research ketogenic diet as great for diabetes and weight loss.
11 Jul 17 by member: path7975
It is true, Keto can be great for diabetics and also a number of other ailments show some improvements, but it is not a panacea for all ills and is not perfect for everyone...Also, there are stacks of diabetics who do not follow a keto plan/lifestyle who do very well once they accept responsibility for their condition...the most important thing for any diabetic who is overweight, is to lose weight, this one single thing will improve the condition more than anything else and once you have the weight under control, the rest becomes much more manageable and has far less impact on your life....There are a number of approaches and methods open to you to help make this happen, and there are a number of factors that will influence your choices and journey, such as funds available, family life, what you feel you can stick to at this time, whether you lack discipline or not, whether you are looking for fast loss or moderate sustained loss, and lots more besides...Do some reading, learn what you can and ask questions, pick something you feel confident you can stick to, and work on, take each day as it comes and work on that day and pick something you feel you can do for the next X years because in truth you are making a lifestyle choice, you are going to have to do this for the long term, not just going on a fad 10 day diet to lose a few of bikini pounds...Keto is just one of your options and it is misleading to make such a statement as above because it is in no way 'essential' to most folks, diabetic or not...it simply one of your options, that may or may not be suitable for you...

LOL, yeah here we go, ok, using your own passive-aggressive example of not getting involved, ;) I am not going to get involved with discussing this, haha...And I see you have chosen to completely bypass and acknowledge my own statements about how Keto can be great for diabetics, so thanks for that...I have not knocked Keto, nor implied it has no validity or anything similar, I never said it was a Fad, I was stating that whatever they choose it needs to be a long-term investment, not a fad diet, nor did I jump to any conclusions, and again, thanks for noticing...It is you who have misread the text, it is you who have jumped to conclusions, not I...The point is this, as was the point in my first response...Clearly you have a misunderstanding of the word 'essential', if a keto diet/lifestyle were essential, as in oxygen is essential to humans, as in water is essential to life as we know it, then every single, as in, all diabetics, not following such a plan would die out pretty quickly once they became diabetic...which of course, we know is just not true is it, therefore, I also stand by my own statement, it is not essential...it is one of a number of choices available to folks, that may or may not be a prudent choice and may or may not suit them in the long run...and losing weight by any number of methods, including Keto if that is the choice they have made, is the most important thing and has the biggest impact on their diabetes overall...nothing more...

Ketoan - I don't get the essential bit either - I'm not sure if PPP herself (With a 56kg target weight I presuming she is female) is diabetic anyway. Unless you are a family of one a Keto diet can be a very difficult to manage lifestyle choice. It was a great diet option for me for a while but not a very practical way of eating long term if only one in a family of four is doing it.

@Adpully It appears Piffys other half, Dave, is the one with diabetes. Thanks for the additional post, no one here has said Keto is a bad choice, only, it is not essential and that is one choice in a number of options that may or may not suit them better for a number of reasons...just as you have echoed above with your own experiences...and just as I previously stated...And for the OP, I reckon the best thing to do whilst still figuring out what may be best for you, is to just start cutting back, eat less, this way you do not need to make massive changes in one hit, you can still eat some of the food in your cupboards without the need to spend extra cash, and begin to fill your food stores with appropriate foods as you need to replace the foods you are eating, and in the meantime read/learn all you can and get educated...

I suppose we should delete our posts now Ketoan have deleted theirs, as the thread makes little sense now...

Misterbee -You maybe right but I will leave a day or so as maybe Keotan is modifying the post as apposed to a total flounce. Piffy Poo Par is a great name and really deserves decent advice not confusion - When I started I went from 4000 to 1700 cals a day I was constipated and it played havoc with my farmers. If I was doing it again I would go for a softer start as MB is suggesting.

Trouble is it makes it tough to follow now... :| and both posts have gone and it makes my own statement look like I am responding to Path7975's post...and just having a mad moment to myself...haha...

There is good advice there though plus you have spent time on it much of which might be helpful to PPP (and others) - What about a a little wordsmithing to sanitise things ?

Did not think you could edit on other folks journals? Just delete and repost? Which messes up the flow...but I suppose it is messed up already now anyway...Is it different in the app? I generally use the computer to post and record...thanks for words btw...

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this and attempting to guess what was in the posts that are now gone. Also, there is nothing wrong with having a mad moment :), I find it can be a nice break.

Sorry I forgot about that I'm used to other forums. Here It's a cut, paste and amend faff. Even on a PC.

Yeah, the edit facilities or lack thereof here are a pita as are the lack of spacing and formatting...never mind, will leave it till tomorra...and think on wether to mod it or not...
