Eating on the run is an awful but undeniable part of so many of our lives. I'm always amused at Diet Gurus who say to sit down and eat with a plate. I like to imagine them doing that in a crowded office, a house full of kids, or in the car stuck on the commute. It really is a good tip, just not always applicable. Since this seems like something that you have to live with right now, look for some healthier convenience foods. Trade in the honey buns for apples and baby bel cheese, peanut butter crackers, anything that gives you a good match of protein and carbohydrate. Look for the Special K protein and cereal bars, items in single serve like cups of cereal or soup. The Campbells Soup To Go Tomato and Chix & Stars are my favorites. I know the portions look small, but because it's protein balanced with carb it will give you the energy your body actually wants. Sugar is dandy but just won't give you the fuel you need to make it through a tough day. Just be aware that many convenience foods can be high in sodium so make sure to check your labels. Also, if you're practicing and performing this play, that counts as exercise! You're far from sedentary right now so make sure to give yourself credit that you're up and around burning calories! By feeding your body better fuel it will burn more and actually be inclined to keep it off once your stress level returns to normal. Good luck on the diet and break a leg in the play! :-)
