To clarify the 10.5 lb weight gain... Some may recall I took a tumble while running back in February... broke my collar bone and separated my shoulder. As a result, my gym routines have been reduced to strictly cardio... no resistance training. I suppose I could have done legs on machines, but I did not. That equates to less weekly calorie burn on average for me. Add to that, I decided not to track my cal intake during that time... with all the choir trips, college trips, play rehersal dinners and snacks, graduation dinners, work travel... etc, You get the picture.. a lot of undocumented consumption combined with a little indulgence and the scale can move very quickly, even if you are still doing cardio. I actually stepped on the scale about 3 weeks ago and was right at 199.. that's almost a 20 lb upswing from my low of 178. Dialed back on the slat and sugar laden foods, so in reality I am actually down about 10 lbs in 3 weeks!

I, too, am getting back on track following cardiac bypass. I feel as if I have been given a second chance at life. I started at 205 and now at 175. At 57, it's tough to get the pounds to shed. I appreciate all the comments you've made to others and remarkable insight.

If I help just one person it was worth the effort. How long ago was your bypass?

Surgery on January 30. Sent home on Feb 3. Back at work on Feb 10. Quadruple. No damage. I got diagnosed at just the right time and thank my lucky stars that it all worked out so well.

Did you have a cardia rehab offered to you about 4 weeks post op? That is where I started to push myself with my walking where I actually broke a sweat, then eventually started running on the treadmill. Fast forward 1 year and I am running 15-20 miles a week; had a 5.25 mile run last week... increasing my distance in hopes to run a half marathon
