I still have a problem keeping my calories to 500 on fast days because of the fats I use to get me through the day. So far I am just doing a 24-Hour fast and not counting calories but eating low carb. Good luck to you.

I'm loving the 5:2. My GF is doing it with me and it's nice to have a partner in diet-crime! Someone watching us entering our food on FS in a restaurant would probably think we were nuts. Slow and steady wins this race. Good luck Trackin!

I am really loving the 5:2. I have noticed my fat is lower than before as I am going for the low days.

Is the 5:2 a form of fasting or is it LCHF?

It is two days a week of 500 calorie days and whatever you want the rest of the time. Some researchers say eat low fat, others say better results with low carb. You can kind of fold in what you prefer to do. The two low calorie days are not sequential, so perhaps Mon and Thurs would be a choice. You need not pay any attention to calories the rest of the time. Most people do not overdo on the non-diet days. It is strangely effective.

Do you work out on the 2 days of 500 calories? I'm curious about this diet plan.

@k-izzle - I think a strenuous workout would not be wise on the fast days, but some people do. The 5:2 plan is spelled out in the book "The Fast Diet" by Dr. Moseley. Some of the side benefits are a reduction in inflammation, especially for asthmatics, and lower cholesterol and fasting blood sugar levels. People seem to lose weight steadily, though it is typically not dramatic. Dr. Krista Varady (PhD) has a book and does a lot of research with humans on this type of dieting, but hers is an every other day of 500-600 and she generally favors low carb. There is also Dr. Johnson's book, who does the same but favors a low fat diet. There are groups on here for 5:2 and for JUDDD (Johnson's Up Day Down Day). I did every other day for three weeks and found it rather relentless so now I'm going with 5:2. Others on here have been doing it longer and might better answer your questions. People doing it seem to be getting excellent results.
