trackin64's Journal, 21 April 2016

Finally broke that 190! I didn't think it was going to happen today. My "down" day on the alternate day diet was not going as planned, and I ate more calories than scheduled (~660 instead of 500). But I dumped a lot of water overnight. I also had my doubts I could keep this up, maybe because the restriction is so severe on the down day - at least for this person with blood sugar issues. I decided to up the calories on the next "down" day to 700-800 to see if that is more agreeable. Not giving up on this diet yet!

Oh, yeah. If I can't handle this diet I'll go back to low carb. I'm pretty much low carb on this one anyway.

That is great. Be sure to check with your doctor too, so you do not overdo giving up calories.

Congrats! On the "fast" days, I feel it too. On Monday, I went to bed earlier to quiet the urges to have a snack. My best pattern (if you can have a patter after 10 days) is a late morning protein snack and a large green salad with extra veggies, cucumbers, radishes, etc. and a boiled egg gets me through the early evening meal. Be careful. Be well, and think about what 185 will feel like!

@fivetwo, I've been eating 3 mini meals over a 9 hr period. I'm hungrier earlier in the day but have not actually been hungry for the evening meal. I ate it anyway, figuring the hunger would hit later in the evening and then I would have to eat and would be giving up a longer fasting period. I get shaky if I wait too long to eat and sometimes that will happen even before hunger occurs. Thanks everyone for the encouragement!

Way to go on getting out of the 190's. Make sure you feel good with whatever eating and exercise plan you are trying. That's important too. Best wishes!

Congratulations for breaking that bridge I hope I miss read your post and that you are really not trying to subside on only 600 calories that is something that I do not believe is sustainable but what do I know I'm not a doctor and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night so good luck

LOL Bik - It's an alternate day diet - low cal one day (from 20% to 50% of normal cals), normal cals (or even 10% more) the next, and repeat. It's a form of intermittent fasting and studies show it tends to preserve lean body mass and because you can let loose a bit every other day, there tends to be better adherence. I'm trying it because I kept blowing the low carb.
