water

today I'm going to say out loud what I've been thinking all along.

If I'm not losing weight, it's because I don't want to do the work

I don't want to log in my food,
I don't want to measure my food.
I don't want to weigh my food.
I don't want to spend hours exercising (which I have anyways - walking)
I don't want to cut out my morning coffee with sugar.
I don't want to cut out having wine
I don't want to go hungry
I don't want to much on celery sticks or carrots when I'm nervous. Fruits I'll have.
I don't want that feeling on wanting for more
I don't want to go without treating myself by having a good satisfying, healthy meal
I don't want to spend the time I need to in the kitchen preparing, slicing, cutting and then cleaning up from that slicing, cutting and preparing.

but I'm willing to forsake or have very occasionally :

junk food, treats, red meat, pasta, cookies, candies, chocolate. ice cream, yogourt, chips, soft drinks or anything that triggers overeating.

to me, that should be enough.

so I guess that pretty much explains not losing.

for now so be it! It's a choice I make.
163.2 lb Lost so far: 15.8 lb.    Still to go: 24.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 1.7 lb a week

I am no angel, so I understand where you are coming from. But could you pick off some off these 'don't wants' and change them to 'will dos'? The reason I am saying this is that a couple of years ago (maybe three, actually), I did so well losing weight without trying. I changed a couple of things and also relaxed and didn't obsess. I was relaxed and the weight went and it was easy. It seems to me now, that I either lose weight THAT way or by being really really strict. I am trying to avoid the latter. Best wishes, we all have days like this when we know what our problem is and acknowledge it,- it's a start to making things different. x

That sounds good to me. I don't do most of the things in your 'don't want to' list. For me it is important to log everything, though. I only weigh if I'm eating something different from usual, otherwise I think I know roughly what a portion looks like. It is all about a healthy, sustainable-for-you lifestyle, not a 'slimming diet' that you abandon when you reach goal.

Hi! I like to keep things simple. So, if you gave up a couple of "white" things (like flour and sugar), you'd kick-start your weight loss and astound yourself. I'm with my good buddy, Rindaloo, keep trying; the benefits are worth every effort, easy or difficult.
