I usually post my weight on Sundays, but wanted to enter this one to demonstrate what happens when you cancel a planned Thanksgiving gathering and opt for family strife instead. I managed to bake a pie and roast some tofu. We both scrounged for dinner. I fell asleep early and woke up in the middle of the night unable to sleep. Hope y'all had a better holiday than I did 😕

And no, it wasn't about politics...

Sorry about your Thanksgiving and the family problems. I didn't do anything yesterday, no family near and I don't like to eat turkey after all the effort it took me to take an injured juvenile wild turkey to a wildlife rescue a couple years ago. Dozens of turkeys are in my yard all the time

Thanks, Fritzy ❤️ I think the last straw for me on eating poultry was learning how much a coworker loves her pet chickens. Yeah, she gets some wee little eggs, but they're really just beloved pets

I still eat chicken but will eventually stop. I talked to one of my doctors about becoming vegetarian. She's vegan and said it was a gradual process for her. I don't eat pork anymore except rare occasions when I have pizza or go out for breakfast. Would never have venison (love the deer who visit me every day), lamb, veal. Still wishing I liked beans more! I may try making a bean soup, just to see if I like it! Unlike you I don't cook much.

It's a bit more difficult if you don't cook as much and aren't big on beans. If you eat gluten, maybe you can find seitan. I use TVP, too -- just hydrate it and use it like ground beef. I've also found I can sneak a can of cannelini beans into potato soup and blend it, and you really don't know it's there. I've also come around on the idea of the alternative meats. I don't typically buy them myself, but I wouldn't worry too much about eating them

Sorry to hear there was strife! Glad you got some yummy vegetarian food. We just went out to eat and I had fish plus all the veggie trimmings

Sheesh. Hate family drama. It's over. Hope your heart has recovered.

Sorry about the family drama my friend. That’s always the opposite of fun on what should be a wonderful day.

It's not really over, AncientHippie. There's a rift between two people I don't know how to negotiate. And my heart definitely hasn't recovered 💔

Thanks, YOH ❤️ The drama actually occurred a couple of weeks before, and our plans were canceled because of it. I feel horrible about the whole situation...and I wasn't the person causing problems

Sorry 😔

Sorry your Thanksgiving was spoiled by family strife, I have sat through more than one extremely stressful holiday celebration that was full of feuding and drama, back then I was naive enough to believe everyone would put their best foot forward and behave, but that never happened. As the years went by I finally learned that the only way I was going to enjoy a holiday was to have my own Celebrations and invite the ones who behaved, even then there was bashing of the ones who were not present. I feel for you.

Sorry, families are complicated, we love, we worry, we hurt, hope your situation resolves soon

I think I understand, debra. Ours was canceled plans due to a rift, not fisticuffs as a side dish to the turkey. Holidays...so much pressure to make it like the ideal, and life isn't always ideal

I appreciate all the kind words, everyone. ❤️ Here's hoping time heals all wounds. I believe in my heart of hearts that ultimately some good will come of this 🤞
