Still making slow progress. I've realized my sleep has gotten horrible, so I downloaded the Insomnia Coach app from the Veterans Administration to try to improve it. If nothing else, the app may motivate me to do the things I already knew I needed to do.

Sounds good. I could sleep much better and I do try also. Hubby tends to derail me some.

Morticia -- my husband has actually been after me for a long time to improve my sleep habits. So, I doubt he'll derail me. FoodyDuty -- I'm a big fan of sleep and have heard so many benefits. It's time I get mine in order, because lack of it makes other healthy habits harder. My biggest problem is waking up in the middle of the night and being unable to get back to sleep

Years ago, the HMO I belonged to sent to a class on sleeping. Everything they said makes sense, but I couldn't do it. I HAVE to have noise to fall asleep. Either from the TV or music. I often fall asleep as soon as a program starts, but will wake if it ends.

I was a tv watcher at night forever, but the man doesn’t like the light from it. Downloaded a couple different sleep noise apps and found I can fall asleep fairly quickly to “brown noise”. I can set a timer for how long it plays as well.

Fritzy & Cass -- I get it, totally. I've been falling asleep to history or science documentaries. The sound kind of lulls me. Sometimes podcasts. But I'm thinking at least for me, the sound I think is helping my sleep actually disrupts it. The biggest change I'm making is seriously cutting back on caffeine. One thing they say to do is to get out of bed if you're not sleeping, which isn't going to work for me. I think that's great advice for someone who has trouble going to sleep, when my problem is staying asleep. If I keep getting out of bed at 2:30 a.m., it's just going to perpetuate the cycle

Writing__ taking a magnesium blend before bed is helping me sleep through the night.

My sleeping also needs improvement. When I was working I looked forward to being able to sleep until sunrise. That didn't happen and it seems it doesn't matter what time/or how tired I wake up a few times to pee even if I have stopped fluid intake...and if the clock is past 3:00 I just stay up. Maybe I will try harder to just go back to sleep. It is frustrating! Good Luck and let us know what works for you.

Thanks for the tip, erikahollister 😊 I've been taking magnesium, but haven't noticed much effect. I usually have absolutely no problem falling asleep. In fact, right now, I've been forcing myself to stay awake until 8 p.m. which, believe it or not, is extremely difficult. It's the staying asleep until a reasonable hour I struggle with. I'm going to try what I can for now and discuss it with my psychiatrist when I see her this month

honeebuns -- sounds like we're dealing with the same issue. Lately, it's been a good morning if I can stay in bed as long as until 3. For years, I woke up at 4 like clockwork, which worked well for me. I'd like to at least get back to that schedule. I'll keep you posted

Thanks, buenitabishop ❤️ It wasn't wonderful, but not bad. I'll take it 😉
