I have not been home for dinner for over 7 days, its been eating out every night in celebration of birthdays etc. Stress at work is terrible and I have been eating to cope which is wrong but its that or tell my co-workers and bosses off which I can't do because I need my job. I don't like myself very much these days because I know using food is wrong but I don't have a backbone so I do it anyway. I wish I had the will power a lot of the people on here have but right now with all the stress all I can do is keep telling myself you are a food addict you don't need that and hope it works. Two more occasions this week and then I will start over again.

Eating your emotions does not work in the long run but I do understand where you are at this moment. Do you have others ways to manage stress like take a walk around your building or leave for lunch to get a break?

I know its tough having stress at work, but try not to eat out for more than 1-2 times a week especially dinner. Also having some pistachios/almonds/granola bars/fruits in your office hours when you feel like eating something snack wise and try drinking a glass of water every 60-90 minutes during your office hours. These will definitely make a difference.

Can you change jobs?

HCB is correct. Eating your emotions does not work. But sometimes even the healthy people do it. Don't feel guilty. You will get back on track. Many of us on here also have our bad days. Sunday night and all day Monday I ate crap. The bad food instantly made me feel lousy, weak and fatigue. I quickly snapped out of it for Tuesday and on because I had MMA class yesterday. Try to eat healthy around those occasions. Find healthy recipes that sound appealing to you. Start a routine. Back when I started to get serious with my diet, it took me 2 weeks of trial and error..messing up, figuring out what I wanted to eat, make a routine, cook meals a head of time. It seems like a lot but if you take it one step at a time you won't overwhelm yourself. Sometimes when I am in a rut with bad eating, I re-read one of my favorite paleo diet books because it helps motivate me. I even read paleo success stories and that gets my mind into gear.

The first thing you have to do is just forgive yourself. It's OK. You know what happened, why you've been doing it. Like everyone else has suggested drink more water and have some healthy snacks around when you need them (although that doesn't help if you have to go out to eat with everyone--people do look at you weird if you pull out your own food to eat). Eating out--try to pick what you think are the best food choices for someone with a limited calorie intake (says the girl who ate a whole rotisserie chicken last night LOL) and go from there. I know things have been frustrating -- and I wish I had all those other people's willpower reserves too! I have none. *sigh* But I know you can do it. Just stick in there and don't give up. Like the old adage goes -- you lost a couple of battles but you can still win the war.
