Ugh...but expected. Post 13-day vacation. I know what to do.

On vacation, it really came home to me why people regain. At a certain point, I just wanted to go back to just eating whatever and not thinking so much about it. It's not like I was eating horribly. There were a lot of home cooked meals and veggies in the mix. And some activity (hiking). But guess what: with my history of weight and struggles with portion control, I don't get to live my life without thinking about it. Can't say I regret it, but I am getting back to tracking and my normal routine.

I felt the same way yesterday about food. Sick of fighting the same battle. Wanting something different. Wanting a decadent day of eating. Life can't always be about trying to achieve the ever more difficult and elusive perfection. Life can't always be about what we can have. Sometimes it is about what we can't have. I am not going to ever decide I can't ever have a cookie.

Nor will I ever rule out cookies forever. I see it as a journey rather than a battle...and sometimes those alternate routes get tempting. Have to remind myself that in the long run, they won't get me where I want to go. Hang in there!

That's what happened to me too! "I just wanted to go back to eating whatever and not thinking so much about it". Didn't work out too well for me either!😜

CrystalJo -- I think in some ways, maintenance is the hardest part. You get to go to the same effort, but without the motivation of seeing the scale go down. I'm still trying to reel it back in, but I'll get there. Didn't help that after my trip, I walked back into a workplace with copious amounts of stress and ready access to chocolate 😂

I treat vacations just the way you describe your vacation. Got another trip coming up in October but I hope to do better. I tend to have digestive problems when I eat away from home .

Fritzy -- it's pretty common for my stomach to be off on the road as well. You get used to a certain WOE and sleep schedule, and it can throw your body off when those are disrupted
