Diana 1234's Journal, 05 February 2023

🎉🎉 Finally, the scale is going down! !! I mentioned yesterday on my last post that I spoke to my nutritionist and she checked my food log for last 2 weeks. She thinks that I'm hanging on to weight because I was depriving my body of the nutrition it needs.I have increased my weightlifting load, increased cardio, and I still workout 6 days a week but do longer sessions. . But, I didn't increase my calories or macros so my body began to hang onto weight. I've been very tired after workouts but thought it was the increase in weights when in reality it is the lack of proper nutrition. Basically I was trying to stay around 50-60 grams of carbs a day to lose those last few pounds. Way to low!! Protein is around 125+ grams which is good and she wants fat around 50 grams which I have a hard time meeting. Its hard to wrap my " diet conditioned" mind around the concept that eating more, especially carbs, will help in weight loss but it works. We upped my RDI by 150 and on hard workout days I'm to increase carb intake to 100+ grams a day. I am still figuring out how to eat that much but I'm trying! Thank you guys for all your support and advice! It really does help!💜💪

Glad you got it figured out! And hope you keep feeling okay about yourself. I don't have macro goals but want to be low fat, except for good fat and my goal is 60 grams of protein. I'd like carbs to stay around 100 but since I put sugar in coffee I can't do it right now.

It's really interesting that gaining weight takes hardly any effort or strategy. Great job hanging in there.

From the research I’ve done for about a year on my health journey, that sounds exactly right. It’s taken me a long time to allow this to try and happen w my macros. I’m still working on it. TYFS what your nutritionist said. Helpful.

OMG, 50-60g of carbs! Of course you would be exhausted after a workout. My body doesn't need or seem to do better with 400-500g of carbs like others. I seem to feel tired when I go over 325g. But my body does well with higher fats, 120g & 250-300g protein. Every body handles macros a little differently. Figure out what works best for you and your goals.

I think I mentioned about having taken a sports nutrition class last semester. Reinforced existing ideas and I learned a lot. People become so focused on calories that they just won’t understand that your body needs certain nutrients, especially some that are hardly ever mentioned on FS. It’s tough to keep our calories in check but still meet some of those other biological needs as well.

Diana, you read our body builder’s posts. They are always cramming in calories, sometimes not even healthy calories. That’s the benefits of working out. I need to be more like you! I only cram in calories and lately don’t cram them out even with moderate exercise. Go Diana Go!!!👍💜

it's funny how our body's respond to different macros. I met the family and had a big breakfast today that had more fats than I normally eat in an entire day and I have felt completely sluggish all day today. my body is just a pure carb machine.

I too have stalled for two weeks. I’ve been trying the bariatric by-pass protocol with himself but he’s losing, I am not. Today I’ll try to kick it up to 1200. Been staying under 800. I had the bypass 10 years ago, still have limited capacity but will figure it out. Thanks for sharing.

Tim, you have your plate full and I admire your dedication to your family and your path to better health, both physically and mentally. I learn so much from your posts and comments on mine. You are doing great and thanks for supporting me!!👍💪

Curly, don't know to much about the surgery stuff but 800 is very low. I know you have limitations on what you can eat though. Hope it all works out for you!

Kenna, you are so knowledgeable in the medical field. I always look forward to your input. You have helped me many times and I appreciate it!💜 Unhealthy dad, I always had the money and set that less was a good thing when losing weight but need to relearn all those myths. I'm at a crossroads now, entering a new phase of my journey. Thanks for supporting me!👍 Stormgirl, I try to get at least 125 grams of protein or higher. It's sometimes difficult but I'm trying 💜 Sherry and Bad juju, Crystal, and Morticia, thanks for your support!👍💜

Unhealthy dad, mindset, not money set..damn autocorrect..lol

Yup. Climbing out of a semi successful KETO weight loss and keeping carbs to a min is a false indicator. Since regular gym I’m losing, hungry, and diet is 50% carbs and increasing. Is what it is.
