I noticed that you set your goal weight really low. I have an action plan to share... I suggest you set your goal at five pounds below your current weight. Then track every thing you eat and any activity here on FS. Consume around 500 less calories that you burn every day. Tracking has been the key for me. It helped me find what worked for me. Track and so will you. Act on it!

John I hope I understand what you are saying....my"goal weight" (120 lbs) "is really low". Are you meaning that it's *not* too low to achieve as a *long* range goal but that as a *short* term goal you suggest I go for 5 lbs at a time? :) In my Bio I have set my goal weight at 120 because that's the weight I was when I felt best. It isn't set in stone(as I note in my Bio)because I'm not really *looking* for a # I'm wanting to *feel* good, healthy....fit!(Don't get me wrong,I *do* want to change my appearance to LOOK good but....that is a side effect of getting healthy,my primary intent.) My Bio also notes, at the bottom, my short term/mini goals or targets which are 10 lb increments. I believe it is a realistic/doable goal since I haven't set a time frame or dead line to accomplish it which in past endeavors have only served to be disappointing to me.Since this is a LIFETIME journey for me & not to be ditched once my goal is met,I don't believe I need to focus on a date to accomplish my goals, rather, my focus is on *accomplishing* them. As far as calories is concerned,I have decreased from 2000, which is what fat secret recommended for me,to my currant RDI of 1600.(This # will continue to decrease as I lose weight)I came to this # several ways.1-Examining my food diary as to how many calories I consume in a day & in a week. 2-Researching what "others" say the amounts should be & trying to understand the reasoning behind their "recommendations". 3-Experimenting with my own body with the "methods" that *I* decide are most plausible & appropriate for me to attain my goals. :) I certainly wouldn't say I KNOW what I am doing(as can perhaps be seen when one looks at only the outward appearances of my recordings/log ins) but I must say that I *feel* (remember,THAT is *my* goal)I am doing what it takes to become healthy & fit. I realize to a good majority that means different things. The dictionary defines HEALTH as:A "sound" physical & mental condition. Most probably agree with that defination,*I* do. But then that brings us to what is "sound"? Again, differs from person to person. The ones *I* like ,from the dictionary is:"Not diseased or sickly; firm, strong; thorough, showing good judgment". This could go on & on because next we have to discern what "good" is to people. :) Everyone has their own opinion & their reasons for those opinions. *I* have joined fat secret not just to lose weight, but for the help it & it's Buddy Program provides.I appreciate *your* suggestions as I do all who are supportive to me in helping me reach my goals.I enjoy reading others journals & data they record as to how *they* are reaching their goals.I take from them as I hope they take from me,what works for each of our individual goals. If I have misunderstood what your suggestion is,please let me know.:)I appreciate all the help I can get. :)

I went back & read again your comment John, & feel I *did* overlook a suggestion :) To track!!! :) I haven't had much to track these past 2 weeks as I had a small get away & then a set back from some kind of bite on my leg. If that is what you are referring to,please note that on my weigh in above your comment,I made mention of that change about to take place.:)

Easier said than done but we just keep on making adjustments until we achieve it :)

The most important thing is what you are already doing. Achieving short term goals is very rewarding and still helps me stay motivated. Also the color coding of the charts displays encouraging results when you set your goal weight at smaller increments. It's fantastic to see the charts turn from orange to green and finally blue. After I stay in the blue a few weeks I reset goal. Yes, tracking everything has been key for me. My main point is that FS is a great tool and support group and works great if we use it to guide our weight loss. Track everything and you will learn what it takes to control your body weight. I think that is the best thing about FS. You can do it...
