JGBOOGADES's Journal, 14 November 2014

I am thankful today to be below 138. Over the Halloween break and with class intensives I ate a lot of processed sugary snacks and actually was up to 141. Also wasn't as active due to have surgery on Oct. 14, which limited my exercise routine. I am finally getting back to were I was before the surgery which only effected my upper body.

The YouTube video, Sugar: The Bitter Truth has motivated me to continue my healthy lifestyle. I feed into the mindset a calorie is calorie, but it's not according to University of California. I am going to treat myself at a minimum.

I am also not going to keep my calorie intake at 1200, but between 1400-1600. I believe this has caused me to binge since I feel like I am not getting enough and then I grab the quick easy stuff.
137.4 lb Lost so far: 19.6 lb.    Still to go: 7.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Diet Calendar Entry for 14 November 2014:

Way to treat yourself kindly. I also find that if I get too hungry and the least bit stressed, that's when bad food choices get made. Afternoon snacks (healthy ones) are really important for me, and a moderate calorie deficit.

good job on your drop below 138. sugar is poison, for sure, and is so pervasive in all our foods, we just don't know how much sugar we are consuming. Halloween has thrown me off my rails as well - it's been a fight to "detox" from it - but slowly but surely.

Woperchild, thank you! I struggle with the stress too which can cause me eat mindlessly. I used to pray before I eat, so I am trying to discipline myself in that area again. But there is a lot of research that they are pushing toward meditating before eating and also smelling food before consuming. I find that interesting. :)

That makes a ton of sense! One of my favorites parts of cooking is smelling food as it cooks. Makes you much more aware of it, which probably also makes you aware of your own body cues about having enough.

@Woperchild, yeah, I saw it in one of the Globesity documentaries in YouTube. According to my husband, it is ancient practice. But I am definitely trying to be more in tune with my food when I eat. It's easy to just put something down quickly as a busy mom and then continue to snack.
