JDbowler's Journal, 10 November 2014

It's Monday morning, and a good morning to all my friends. Hopefully the weekend treated you well. It did for me, lots of good times with friends, good bowling and not too bad of a time at the job. Woke up this morning to the scale saying 269.8, this is the first time in a loooooooooong time that it has dipped under 270. Granted it will probably hover above and below 270 for a couple of days, but this particular time it's below. So I'm completely happy. :-D

I do have a (hopefully) quick question for you. Do you have problems with your scale being accurate? Did a little test in the house the other day, and in 4 different spots in the house, I got 4 different weights. Makes me lose a little faith in my scale actually. Each time I got on the scale, it went up, not by a little bit buy by a lot. By the 4th time, I had gained almost 3 pounds. It really didn't make sense to me. But I figured I would ask and see if anyone would either recommend a scale, or just offer some advice.

Thanks for reading. I hope you all have a great day.

Hi JDbowler, glad to hear you had a good weekend. I regards to the scale showing different readings, mine does the same indifferent spots, especially if there is carpet or rugs around. However, i find of I keep the scale in the same spot ever time I weigh myself then there won't be any inconsistencies in weight loss measurement. Most accurate readings are when the scale is on a hard flat surface eg, bathroom tiles, concrete floor etc... Most inconsistent results when the scales are on carpet, high pile rugs etc.

Hey JD - sounds like a great weekend. Good work on the drop. I agree with Stella. Scales certainly aren't the last word in what your weight is - and they change for many reasons. So once you have your baseline - the scale, time of day, the location, etc. you have to stick with it, same time, place, etc. to get your personal gains/losses. when you go to doctor's office, friends house, or scale at gym, etc. it may be off from where you think you are - but since those aren't the ones you are using, that is not what you should be measuring against.

I just picked a spot in my house and that is where I always weigh myself. I have the same problem as you, seeing different numbers on the scale on different places in my house.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I weigh myself on the same spot each time. However, that even gives a fluctuation of weight. It is extremely frustrating when you can't trust the scale at all. Just wasn't sure if it was just me, or if I needed a new scale.
