Gnewfry's Journal, 28 September 2014

i thought i'd start to weigh myself every day, but i keep forgetting. this is a little lower than last week, which is good. i've been eating better (although still from the pantry and freezer) and i started walking again. i was in a real little funk there for a while.

i'm pretty depressed, so that doesn't help. also i really want to snack after my husband goes to bed and i am reading. i don't know what's up with that. maybe habit?

anyway, tracking rerally helps.

I certainly agree with you about tracking! Sometimes when I want to snack the very fact that I'm going to have to drag out the computer and log it makes me change my mind! A warm drink might satisfy your urge to snack while reading - it's soothing and relaxing before bed, too -- as long as you avoid caffeine. Sometimes I just drink warm water with a spritz of lemon, or even just plain. Walking can help a lot with depression - getting your body moving, being outside. Just looking up at the vast sky sometimes helps me put my problems in perspective. Hope you feel better - 3.4 lbs weight loss is really good for 1 week!

Gnew - I agree with trackin. Also, maybe note what works for you in achieving your daily goals. Make a list. Maybe listen to music with earphones till you're just too darn tired to do anything else but go to sleep.

There are quite a few herbal teas on the market that don't need sweeteners added to them. Try peach flavored, pumpkin flavored, chamomile flavored, or berry flavored. Tastes like a snack without the calories. If you really need a snack, you might want to try a small amount of filling nuts, at around 100 calories. Almonds and pistachios give you the nutrition and quantity compared to some others. You can bag them up in advance to have on hand for emergencies. Great for mornings when you don't have time to fix breakfast and to carry with you to stem your appetite. Especially, before going grocery shopping!

Awesome weight loss! I agree with kattay, to drink a decaffeinated tea. I usually reach for sugar free chewing gum. My favorites are spearmint, peppermint, cinnamon and even lemon flavored. There is a new one that is peach flavored. Every time I click to add Dessert Delights Peach Cobbler chewing gum to my food log, I wonder if some people think I am having dessert. It's just gum that tastes like dessert. :)
