Tink1953's Journal, 31 July 2022

The dog days of summer are here. And so are these lovelies. Two mountain lions in town just today. One had to be euthanized because it jumped through a basement window. The other greeted me in the shed when I went to get baler net. Ran or rather hobbled quickly because of the boot on my foot to the truck and grabbed the shovel. My hands were shaking, but I got the job done. I absolutely despise those effers.

It's been over 100 degrees for 4 days. Hot and dusty. And no break in temperature in sight. So hot I really didn't enjoy the fair or rodeo.

Did manage to lose a bit.

We have a local nature preserve that's an offshoot of the Mokelumne River (Central Valley, CA.) Mountain lions follow the river down out of the foothills to the cooler wooded/wetland areas, then make their way into the surrounding neighborhoods every summer. Scary for sure, glad you are okay

We deal with cats regularly as we live "out". Last night my son was leaving work and saw a huge fox trotting down the road. At first he thought it was a dog. I respect and pay attention to the cats, but I am scared to death of rattlesnakes and grizzly bears. And we are seeing more of the bears coming down from the mountains.
