Dropped 1.4 lbs in 4 days. I'm not consciously restricting calories, but I have been taking in fewer calories than I am burning. Just not hungry. Probably due to the combination of the ketogenic diet and the IF. I'm ostensibly using a 16:8 IF regimen. However, this week, I've restricted my eating to the hours of 2pm until 8pm. Thereby following an 18:6 IF. Surprisingly, I haven't been getting overly hungry on this schedule. By the time I start to feel a bit peckish, its closing in on noon, and I can easily hold off till 2 by doing some chores around the property, or use the laptop to do some work, studying, or just messing about. I still reserve the option of starting to eat at noon if I choose (or for business/family luncheons), but I really like the 18:6 schedule.

I bought a Nutri-Bullet a couple of weeks ago. WOW do we like it. My wife has never eaten a vegetable. I mean, not corn, not peas, nothing except pickles and deep-fried potatoes. Since I got the Nutri-Bullet, I make her a breakfast smoothie with 2 cups of spinach, a half cup of broccoli, a cup of unsweetened almond milk, a tablespoon of flaxseed, a couple of strawberries and a small banana. I swear; it tastes like a banana milkshake. Its awesome. This would also be wonderful for getting small kids to eat veggies, as well.

For me, I break my fast at 2pm with a smoothie made of 2 cups of spinach, a cup of broccoli, 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk, 2 Tblsp of flaxseed and a scoop of protein powder. I usually make my smoothie at noon and put it in the freezer. By 2pm its the consistency of ice cream and I eat it with a spoon. It tastes great and is really filling due to all of the fiber and protein in it.

Speaking of my wife, she's doing great on the low-carb, low calorie diet. She's dropped close to 40 lbs and is looking great. Since she started drinking the veggie smoothies, she says that she feels sharper, more alert and has more energy.

Well the weatherman predicted that we would probably have our first 100 degree day tomorrow. So, of course, the air conditioner went out on Saturday morning. Can't call anyone until Monday and we probably won't get a service call until Wednesday. Bad timing, as we just bought a new car, and my wife's other car is in the shop with a $1,000 electrical repair being done. C'est la vie. Its only money. It isn't cancer or a stroke.

I have to attend a summer meeting for my business, and I had a choice of cities in which to attend. So I chose Corpus Christi and reserved an RV spot on the bay for 5 days. So we'll take the travel trailer and the dogs with us and turn the business trip into a bit of a vacation on the coast. We can relax and take the dogs beach running and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico again. It worked out perfectly because this trip coincides with our 33rd wedding anniversary.

Looking forward to starting my yoga and SCUBA classes. They both start next Saturday. Just more fun ways to get healthy and stay fit.

Well, I truly hope that you all enjoy the rest of your weekend, and that the new week brings you health, fulfillment and happiness.

Sounds like you've got a good plan. Congrats to both of ya'll on the weight loss. Thanks for the smoothie tip. Sounds good and I keep all of the ingredients on hand. It also will be a good way of "sneaking" veggies in on family members. Freezing it is a great idea. Thanks and good luck

Another tip for the smoothies is this. Bananas turn brown really fast around here, so as soon as they are really ripe and just getting a few brown spots, I peel them and slice them up into individual sandwich bags. Then I put all of the bags of sliced bananas into a gallon sized zip-lock freezer bag and store it in the freezer. Then I just take a single bag out and dump it into the bullet when making the smoothies. Its faster and you don't end up throwing away the over-ripe bananas (or turning them into banana pudding with vanilla wafers...LOL).

TXSnowman and Draglist - last time I froze bananas, I discovered that it's much easier to peel them and freeze them whole. Then I cut them into chunks. I just lay them out on waxed paper on a cookie sheet and put the sheet in the freezer. The whole frozen bananas are much easier to slice than very ripe unfrozen ones!

I freeze ready sliced bananas but annoyingly stick to the bottom of the tray so these are all great tips, Thanks for sharing! Will try this smoothie cos i'm not getting enough greens for sure!is the broccoli cooked or frozen? I will have to use frozen spinach. Enjoy Mexico TX and happy anniversary, 33 is a BIG number! congrats on your wifey's weight loss too! must feel great to have both of you watching over each other and suggesting ways to improve. Good luck for the new classes, it's always fun to learn how to play in new ways - that's what keeps us young..er! :)

Jen, I use frozen broccoli florets. I thought about using fresh broccoli, but, the cost of broccoli crowns is about 2 to 3 times the cost of the frozen broccoli florets (crowns). The nutrition data is the same, and the frozen broccoli doesn't go bad. I'm just careful to read the label to make sure that the only ingredient is broccoli and that they haven't added sugar, salt or anything else to the product.
