I'm so sorry for your diagnosis, but under 1200 calories is extremely low. Unfortunately, your metabolism drops down to adjust to those low calories after about 3 months of it and maintaining your weight is going to be harder than it should be 😭 There are tricks and hacks to prevent that from happening, like dieting for two weeks and then eating at maintenance calories for the next two and so forth. Do some research, talk to a dietitian... 1200 calories for the rest of your life seems unsustainable. Kudos on cutting the carbs 👍

Thanks for the input, Christine. I TRY to stay under 1200, but the reality is almost always more like 1500 (or more). I lost all the weight in 2020, maintained pretty well in 2021, and now am having to lose about 15 pounds to get back to goal weight. A couple of times, I dropped down to 128 and honestly looked pretty skeletal and gaunt. So I think I'll set my goal at 135. I'm a fanatic about getting enough protein in each day because during my year of aggressive weight loss I lost A LOT of hair (it was frightening).
