I haven't been pushing myself as I have in the pass ,,
My pain level on my knee is off the chart
I asked my Dr for some help he gave me Trama-Dol and it barely works to control pain and it gives me headaches and sleepless night which as a driver I cant do ,, so i'm sure i'm compensating with food because of the pain .

I'm sure drinking more water would be helpful

I am not a doctor by all means. Trama-Dol doesn't work. I can't take NSAID do to bleeding ulcers so my GI said that is a big no no. My doctor wants me to go to pain management since he won't give me pain med. Not saying I am looking to 100's of pill to take. I have been walking as much as I can. Going to PM and having to take a p-test or pill count just isn't what I am looking for. Take care and best of luck.

I understand the knee pain. I'm down 45 pounds and my knee was feeling so much better and then I over did it two weekends ago which resulted in three days on the couch (day and night), knee elevated with ice. I need to lose another 100 pounds before they'll think about knee replacement - which I'm pretty sure is in my future. I still hold out hope that if I lose another 100 pounds, my knees won't hurt. I am sorry that you dont' find any relief from the tramadol and it messes with your sleep. One thing that really helped me is cutting out as much processed food as we can. That made the biggest difference in my overall inflammation and pain. My protein shakes are still processed but we don't have bread, pasta, white sugar, and the BIG ONE no diet soft drinks - now, when I have a couple of diet sodas, my knees kills me (and other body parts are achey) the next day. Sad but true because I used to live on my diet colas. I hope you find some relief from the pain. I know the weight loss helps but it is unfortunately a slow route to helping reduce the pain. Keep your faith in what you are doing, the 26 pounds you've lost make a big difference to you knees.

So sorry it does not work for you, I guess I am lucky as tramadol works for me 50mg a day and I am allowed 1 to 3 times a day but 1 a day does it for me, Plus which I do not use unless hurting really bad from arthritis I take half a pill of percoset. Since a controlled substance narcotic I only as I said take when pain really bad. I am allowed 15 so my doctor always pleased my request for a refill not but maybe twice a year. Last time I had it filled was 12-13 and still have some. I think being more active with 3 days of daycare with twins and exercising daily in the pool helps so I am not so stiff. Just wish stamina to stand or walk very long was better but medical condition still makes it hard...I can't take NSAIDS due to kidney disease which I caused myself taking too many when younger trying to deal with arthritis. STUPID OF ME OF COURSE....I do need knee surgery and have to lose 90 some pounds before orthopedic doctor will do surgery. I DESPISE THE SHOTS IN KNEES AS IT DOES HAVOC WITH BLOOD SUGARS AS I AM A DIABETIC. Last time I had shot was 12-13...I usually wait till I can't stand the pain then have the shot which ends up every 10 months. Sorry did not mean to rattle on. :( I PRAY THAT YOU FIND SOMETHING TO WORK FOR YOU AND ALOWED TO TAKE BEING A DRIVER. GOD BLESS YOU.... :)

Dreamcatcher.. I can understand your pain in your knee.. I have them also.. and at times they are intolerable.. I had my left knee replaced a year and a half ago, and my right knee is just bout as bad as my left knee was..the pain is stopping me to go to the next distance in my exercises. My left knee still gives me pain, but it is not that sharp pain- but more of a aching sore muscle pain.. which is more tolerable. but my right knee is just killing me..Hope that healing will occur for you..

hoosier436 thanks for your sharing its encouraging ,, not that your in pain to ,, just that ya care ,, I must admit Drs are refusing to give me pain killers ,, yet I live in apt complex were I see others strung out on drugs I know there not the answer but it does help when the pain makes ya cryyyyyy I use to take one so I couls sleep through the night ,, when I went through cancer I had all kinds of pain killer and I hardly used them and even have one pain killer left for a very teary day ,, it would be awful if I had knee replacement then still hurt ,, but like you and others have told me it is not as sharp ,, God Bless ya very much sweet dreams <3
