Six hours away from completing my first 24-hour fast, from noon to noon. It seems to be going just fine. Some hunger, but that passes. Not eating gets you in touch with all the voices in your head with their stories about starvation and being "weak from hunger." Starvation is probably one of those primal fears that gets subconsciously activated with the first hunger pang. Long, long ago I read Jean Nidetch's (founder of Weight Watchers) book and I recall her saying you need to "ride the hunger." I don't do WW so I wonder if they still offer that wisdom. It seems like most diet programs promise that you never need to go hungry. Apparently hunger should be avoided at all cost! And that is one of probably many head trips about hunger pangs.
