Babe53's Journal, 02 February 2014

Okay, my first day going up in weight; I won't let this get me (too) down. :-/

It was another cold one here in Minnesota yesterday and so I got sucked into watching back to back episodes of "My 600 lb Life". Oh, my heart just breaks for these people, who so want their lives back and how hard they work after gastric bypass surgery. Most cases I saw were very successful; I was so happy for them!!! But there were a couple of them that didn't go so well.

I pray I have the strength to lose the weight I need to become more healthy. I'm am here per doctors orders; Weight Watchers didn't work --- I was constantly fighting the cravings I get so terribly bad. So far the Atkins is going very well, in not only keeping the cravings at bay but the foods I'm allowed/not allowed to eat have been somewhat of a challenge for me, but seeing the results so quickly is what keeps me motivated. I'll be able to get some of these carbs back; and what I love most about Atkins is, knowing that somewhere down the road, I will LEARN what things I must avoid to prevent cravings. This is what I need most. Because these cravings (mainly for junk food of course) are bad in me. (... or WERE bad in me) ;)

Perhaps I'll be down a little tomorrow. What's this 'up' business, anyway! lol ;)

Have a fabulous Sunday. Today I will do some scrapbooking!

You might be retaining water that would cause the gain. I looked at you food, did you eat dinner? Butter and sausage have a high salt content. Easy fix, drink more water decaffeinated green tea also. Keep up the good work!!!!

I ate dinner yesterday, and will today in a few hours. I had bacon twice yesterday.... And again this morning (Haha love the stuff) so maybe this is why. Do u recommend I back off on that?? I drink about 128 oz of water each day. Thx for your response!

I agree, you must be retaining water. Are you eating a lot of salt? Is it that TOM? Your carbs are low enough. Hmmm...just keep at it. It'll shake loose. Btw, read "Wheat Belly". You'll see pretty quickly why weight watchers didn't work. Also, you might want to check out these two Dr. Oz links. Changed my entire perspective on food! http://www.wheatbellyblog.com/2012/12/dr-oz-show-are-you-addicted-to-wheat/ http://www.doctoroz.com/episode/wheat-belly-diet-lose-wheat-lose-weight

Sounds like salt could be the problem just flush it out with water, I quit eating wheat this week also, no cravings, feeling great. I have not read the above mentioned book but have done some research, you might give it a try

Thanks so much you guys. I ended up having 6 oz pork roast with some saurkraut for dinner tonite (yayy, more salt, good grief, don't I learn?) Curious what tomorrow morning scale will say. TOM? HA! Who knows... I'm at that time in my life where that is far from regular, if u know what I mean. I'm guessing it IS all the salt. (darn) I'll check out that link on Dr. Oz now ... (THANKS!!!). And yeah, too, weight DOES and can fluctuate daily like Nina says.
