mimsmiles's Journal, 23 April 2021

As of about April 12, 2021 I've started a nutritarian type diet from Joel Fuhrman. It consists of lots of vegetables, both raw and cooked, no oil but whole food fats ok like nuts, seeds, avocado. Fats need to be kept to a minimum though, so like an ounce of nuts and seeds a day, which is actually quite a lot. Fruit in abundance also. I think I enjoy this the most. And whole grains , about a cup a day. I've been eating oatmeal most mornings with a chopped up banana and a 1/2 cup of berries, a tablespoon of ground flaxseed and cinnamon on top. It's very delicious! Lunch is a mega salad with lots of raw veggies and some pumpkin seeds with a homemade dressing. The dressing I just made is so delicious. The ingredients are peanut butter, cilantro, lime juice, jalepeno, soy milk, and raisins. It is so good. No salt, no refined sugar of any kind. I'm never one to be super strict on things like no this or that, but I have been adhering to this pretty closely and my taste buds are changing. The diet says your craving for salt and sugar go away if you stay away from them for a week or two and that has actually been happening for me. I still want something sweet after dinner but fruit has been satisfying me. I have to say that the thing I notice the most is that my appetite has gone way down and I'm not obsessing about food! This is a great feeling. I think my eating habits we're based on enjoyment and comfort, but like way too much. Now I'm enjoying food, very much, it's tasty and satisfying, but it's not like the main thing in life if you get what I'm saying. This has been working for me so far. We're in a pandemic so I'm not eating out with friends etc, so now was a good time to start.
